I thought this one was about emotional blackmail, and someone threatening to kill themselves if she will not be with them. "Nobody deserves to die... but if I didn't love you then you had just one alternative". I know a few people who have had partners threaten them with that. She's saying that she loves him, but there's more to her life than just the relationship, and she has more to live for ("I aint no Juliet"). I'm also reminded of couples who die together and are burried together, "Here lies ___& ___". She doesn't want to go out like that. |

El_Arlequin, Amanda Palmer seems to think the lyric is "aces" - it's on her website. I feel like this song is about a drug addict, based on some things that Amanda has written about on her online blog thingies. But she often says that her songs are mostly about all sorts of things all at once. |

I'm so literal with song lyrics :P To me this one sounds like it's about having a friend or someone you love borrowing money from you all the time and just kind of using you. ...I did hear that with this album, Bjork did not fuss over the lyrics as much and just wrote them as they came, so I don't search too deep for extra meaning in the lyrics on the album. Maybe I just made that up though, who knows?? |

Whoever implied that sex is a shallow thing to sing about didn't think about that properly, in my opinion :P To me, it sounds like they were asleep and they woke up sort of groggily and started having sex and fell asleep again. I've had experiences like that and it's the most beautiful thing :) just wordlessly slipping in and out of that mode while you're still dreaming. |
