I kept when You said, "Let go!" i love that line. referring to when god said let go... you kept on and kept on. it makes me think of when i was full of hate and held a grudge. and i knew god was saying let go.. but i refused to forget. its so powerful. ALSO. when I am god. this church is unsound. could be referring to when a preacher acts as if he is god, and it is HIS church. It makes the church unstable, unsound. |

yea...I think this song is about his mother also. How no matter what he did, he never thought he was good enough, or that he was worthy to be her son. He never thought he made her happy, or that he was a good son..but in all relality he was. In the video it show him and his mom alot. It shows her taking pictures of him and a g/f for a prom or something, and how they were kinda "freaks" and rebellous, and how he was never good enough, but she loved him anyways. And it show a break down from the drugs or w/e, and his mom is there to take care of him and to help him through it..and he felt like he let her down so many times. The song is about how no matter what he did, his mother always cared and wanted to help him...but he thought he was letting her down, so he wants her to hate him, so it makes life easier on him... yea...after seeing the video...i SO dont think its about a girlfriend. |

ok...I couldn't have said it any better than GoodEveningMiss. Everything I could have said has already been said. Except that I love this song, and this band SO unbelievably much, and I am SO glad they do what they do, because I know they are touching peoples lives and hearts, including mine. |

I'm not sure of the whole meaning... but I'd have to agree with IAmAMicrophone, sheltered, and ruskinthebig I dont think it's point to the "her" being a women. In the bible "her" or "she" is referred to as sin... he's saying the sin is eating at him repeatedly, and he's asking god for forgiveness and to take it off his mind as well.. |

Its obivous that it's about keeping your faith.. "lawlessness stains black on whitewashed tombs."-the christian the is whitewased tomb "we're too strong to compromise. don't be ashamed of your faith."-their saying the christian needs to be too strong to compromise, keep your faith, don't compromise to what society want you to be. "dear Lord- deliver me from hypocrisy and surcease the scarlet desire."-their saying lord, save me from the hypocrisy and the temptations and desires of the world. "he wears a slick jacket and gold watch. her dishonesty has scarred hands."-saying that satan and his temptations look so good with the slick jacket and gold watch, but its too good to be true. "her" is ment to be understood as the sin and temptation...it's dishonest and not what it seems. i love how all their songs relate to christianity. True believers in christ. And it's unbelievable how many non-believers dont understand the meanings of thier songs...and continue to listen...one day it'll click, and they will either quit listening...or decide to come to god, our "king of diamonds and king of the grave" |
