| Regina Spektor – Aching to Pupate Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think she wants the city to pupate. We have a shortage of butterflies, innocent beauty in one of its purest forms. But we're so unevolved that we wont buy any butterflies because we don't know that we're lacking them. | |
| Regina Spektor – Hotel Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think Regina is simply "the other woman". I think that she knows that he'll never leave his girlfriend for her, and that their whole relationship is a fling built on drugs and lies. Hotel rooms are common settings in songs and tv for sleazy affairs. She has dreams of "orca whales" and "owls" which are two common symbols of freedom and wisdom, but she "wakes up in fear". She dreams of having a real relationship with him, but knows it will never happen. This idea is brought up again with "you will never be my dear, dear, friend." The idea of it being about a prostitute is certainly plausable, but I don't think a prostitute would get so emotionally involved. |

What do you get when you combine a Bob Dylan song with Johnny Cash song? Another Travelin' Song |

| Bob Dylan – Shelter from the Storm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Far as I can tell he sleeps with a girl. And it's great. She helps him feel better, she "takes his crown of thorns". But he expects more from the relationship than she does. He offers up his innocence and "gets repaid with scorn". But the sexual relationship continues "come in she said I'll give you shelter from the storm" is at the end of each verse, which I think is implying the continuation of the relationship. He decides in the end to keep trying. To win her heart "Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line Beauty walks a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine." He never really tells us if he succeeds. | |
| Bright Eyes – Cleanse Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is so hopeful. After hearing it I feel like I'm okay, and everything can be fixed. All I need is some laughter and a season to sleep and a place to get clean. | |
| Envy on the Coast – Sugar Skulls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Well sugar skulls are an important part of Dia del Muerte, spanish for "Day of the Dead". I'm not sure how that ties in, but maybe it will help somebody else find some kind of meaning. Maybe it has something to do with a dead relationship? | |
| Jet – Skin and Bones Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like the idea of a boyfriend's point of view on an eating disorder. I've struggled with maintaining a healthy weight for years, and it's just the kind of thing I wish someone would say to me. |

| Ramones – Mama's Boy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
you are all the same jelly bean brain every one's a secret nerd every one's a closet lame I love this. I write these lines on every desk that I sit in in school. Just so everyone knows that I'm on to them. |

| Ramones – Rock N' Roll High School Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When I hear this song, all I can picture is everyone dancing through the halls of my highschool with The Ramones playing in some random biology classroom or whatever. Hahaha its very corny, but it would be sooo much fun. |

| Ramones – She's The One Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hmm, Tigersuite I never thought of that, but it kind of makes sense. In any case, I love it =] |

| Bob Dylan – Desolation Row Lyrics | 18 years ago |
We're all hopeless. Welcome to Desolation Row. |

| Lily Allen – Alfie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think that in this cd Lily Allen makes a running social statement where she takes very dark ideas and puts them to bright upbeat melodies or choruses. I think she is trying to show how in our society we try (in vain) to cover up problems like drug use. The song "Alfie" epitomizes this idea. |
| Regina Spektor – 2.99 Cent Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about materialism. She mentions things like water and stories and soldiers all having pricetags on them. Things that we need or create. Things that should be free to us are all sold for profit. So anyways, maybe I'm wrong, but I just think its about how wrong that is. |
| Barenaked Ladies – Grade 9 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love how this song totally captures that kind of High-School-sucks-but-I-dont-take-it-too-seroiusly mentality that I know that I personally, have. Personally, I really like High School so far. |

| Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 18 years ago |
haha yes, funny-lookin kid. they all bop around thinking about how hard core they are. |
| Britney Spears – I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think a better song about growing up is Bob Dylan's "Just like a Woman". It's not even really about growing up, and Dylan isn't even a girl, but he somehow describes perfectly my own struggles with growing older, making dumb choices, feeling all grown up, and then breaking just like a little girl. | |
| Hellogoodbye – Stuck To You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When you hear it with the music, you get almost a sense of desperation. It's really great. And fun as well, it seems that there is not enough fun music, these days. |
| The Beatles – Eight Days a Week Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song has a kind of innocence to it that makes it impossible to not like. The prospect of loving somebody forever, for eight days a week, epitomizes a loveable naivety that made so many Beatles songs great. | |
| Bob Dylan – Just Like a Woman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, this song speaks to growing up. I doubt that Dylan wrote it about that, but it seems like a perfect description of my slowly, very slowly, becomming more mature. As a teenager I can be just like a woman. I'm perfectly mature and sophisticated. However in a second, I can break just like a little girl. |

| Bright Eyes – I Must Belong Somewhere Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me this song seems to be about settling. Instead of looking for where we really belong, we stay where it's eaisiest, and most secure. Of course, a widower doesn't belong in his private hell, but getting him out of that hell would take a great deal of effort and most of us have no idea how you would go about doing this. It's about giving up, I suppose. Saying, "Good enough." |
