this song i think is about a man trying to get a girl to let her gaurd down..she has had a rough experience of some sort and is afraid to let anyone in or start a relationship..she thinks that she knows everyone to well and wants to move away and meet new people in hopes of finding someone when the man thinks that all she needs to do is stop "blacking out the friction" because he loves her and wants to be with her but she is afraid to let anyone in..so she will in turn "cross the country alone" because she will not let him into her life..favorite song right now |

great tribute to a great city but also a great tale of a love that seems to be bitter sweet..he loves this girl but she is obviously still depressed and with talks of pills and everything it is obvious that he wants her to see that if she lets in a little love she wont need the whole world to be happy..he is sad that his love is not enough to make her happy |

i think all of these are good theories and you guys deffinetly have more experience interpretting songs than me but i think this has a great link to the past as well as some links to the present..."the sorry conclusion the hole in the sky" and "the tainted election..the low dirty war" could be allusions to the present with issues such as global warming and the war in iraq and show how we are all simply frozen in cocoons or stuck where we are and we dont have the nerve to fight for what we believe in..i like to think it has something to do with that though it very well could not..still a great song |
