I get that people want to relate to songs they like and therefore see different things behind lyrics but let's face it: this song leaves nothing to the imagination. It's about anorexia. If you (nearlyfar!) want a song to be about self-inflicted pain and the addiction to it, then find another one, because this is clearly not it. No offense. |

Why would you want to hit yourself over something like that? You shouldn't think of how you let it slip away or of things you would've done differently. You should think of the fact that something in you inspired him to feel this way. A piece of who you are made him feel a kind of love greater than most. It's actually something to be greatfull for... and proud of. And: I think his description might indeed just be what those lyrics are about :) |

It's not my favorite OLD song but then again... even his (to my humble opinion) worst songs are worth a Nobelprize if you ask me :) Every reference I read or hear from him about this song contains the words 'breaking up with myself'... So when I hear the lyrics I keep thinking it's about him losing a part of himself that, when he thinks about it afterward, he realizes was not his best. To me, with this song he compares the loss of that part to being dumped. But that could be just me being dumb :) |

Ok, I'm Dutch, had hundreds of boring hours full of 'the great teachings of the German language' and I can tell you you're both right. 'Bitte' actually means 'please' as well as it means 'to ask for' As for the 'ein Kuss' part: 'ein' means 'one' aswell as it is the German word for 'a'. 'ein Kuss' can therefore mean 'one kiss' or 'a kiss'. There you have it :) Furthermore, I think it's kinda cool he actually writes explicitly sex-related lyrics since he always seems so damn shy :) |
