I have no idea what this song is about, but I find myself captivated by this song, I love Cerys's accent, it's beautiful, and so unlike that of Catherine Zeta-Jones, another famous Welsh woman. I agree with JeffKaos71, she's basically saying, this is some weird shit...I really should break away from this but I am intriuged... lol I love that line! 'and as for some happy ending, I'd rather stay single and thin' Cerys Mathhews is up there on my list of Female singers with uniquely beautiful voices, along with Amy Lee, Dolores O'Riordan and many others. Has anyone else noticed that the ads along the side by google are about aliens, UFOs and Area 51??? |

OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!! THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL! Seriously guys! Why would you search for this song, just to diss it? Don't you have anything better to do? ALL YOU PEOPLE WHO MENTIONED SIMPLE PLAN BEING EMO! Do you know who's really Emo? FROM FIRST TO LAST. They fucking SUCK. But I don't think I'll search for a From First To Last Song, read the lyrics and diss it for the sake of it. Simple Plan doesn't sing about "emoness" or "teen angst" They sing about things that are close to life. Welcome To My Life used to be my theme song, and my day-to-day attitude is based on Shut Up. Seriously, if you've had someone die, someone you love, listen to Perfect World. If you get bullied, or your life is just general crap, listen to Welcome To My Life. If you and your dad have a bad relationship, listen to Perfect. If you're just a kid and no-one lets you do anything, but your friends seem to able to anything they like, listen to I'm Just A Kid. If you're in love with someone and you know it can't possibly work, and they've told you that, listen to Addicted. sparkly-pink-fairy is right, as are all you other fans who can't wait to get rid of these fucktards who diss songs for the sake of it. another_loser_anthem provided a pretty good explanation. |

pure_insanity, what the hell? Very insightful... actually that's a good one...it COULD be about Schizophrenia.....only what's the bombs? email me!! I want to know what you were thinking when you wrote that. I have a 40-Hour Famine t-shirt. It has a comic strip on the front. In the first panel there is a the silliouhette fighter plane with missiles loaded onto it, in the second panel there is the same plane in a white outline rather than a sillouhette, softer, and skinnier, then in the third panel it's altered again so it looks more like a bird, all the ruts and edges of the plane are now feathers, but it looks a bit like a fighter plane with feathers, and in the fourth panel, it's a beautiful white dove. Beneath those pictures, in black print, it says PEACE NOT PIECES. On the back it has the World Vision 40-Hour Famine logo, with the caption "Your weekend their life" I was wearing that shirt when I was lsietning to that song before, and I think it's appropriate. |

This song is about a war, any war, really, but more specifically the Irish Civil War. When Dolores says "It's not me, it's not my family" she's saying, okay, you guys are at war. I don't really care. I have no interest in the war beyond the fact that it's been going since 1916 (that's 91 years. Holy crap!!) and that YOU'RE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT THEY ARE BRITISH! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?! She's telling us in the first verse that children are being taken from their mothers, Violence is causing people to keep quiet about certain things or face being executed. I agree with Lissy on the base that they're just following each other into battle and doing what they're told. They don't even think. They don't say. They just do. I hate people like that. And bassinvada, you're right, too, the word 'Zombie' is indeed (or at least I think so) a reference to how the soldiers were systematically killing each other without feeling anything. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_%28song%29 "Zombie" is a protest song by the Irish band The Cranberries from the 1994 album No Need to Argue. It is about the conflicts in Northern Ireland known as "The Troubles", with references to the Easter Rising of 1916. This song is so powerful, it empowers me and frightens me at the same time, making me want to sing it so loudly, I want to scream "WHAT'S IN YOUR HEAD?!" It is a beautiful song, and the video was awesome, too. I heard it took Dolores two days to get all the gold paint off. That's a lot of paint! |

jls@yoface! Tell me. What is this website called? www.songmeanings.net, that's correct! Gold star! For another Gold Star, WHY is it called songemanings.net? Very good! Because people come on this website to FIND OUT THE MEANINGS OF SONGS THEY LIKE! So WHY would you throw a psyche at everyone for trying to interpret such a beautiful song on site especially for that purpose? I don't understand you, jlas@yoface. |

| Savage Garden – Santa Monica Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I love this song, it's so cute! He's right!!! On the telephone line you can be anything. I think it's really cute because he's like a little kid when he sings this, and he has a little lisp while singing it. His voice goes high as it does, in a childish way this time, but it's an Acoustic song, and that's so un-Savage Garden. I get the feeling that he wrote this, sitting on a park bench at the park, during the winter, when the Sakura trees are in full bloom, and for some reason in his To The Moon And Back outfit, and a scarf, with all these skateboarders, inline skaters, and beautiful people, all on their expensive cellphones, and he goes to get some Coffee, walks along the Boulevard, gets knocked down by the skaters, and no-one pays him any attention. So, he gathers up his papers, throws his now-empty coffee cup in the bin and walks back to his hotel, dodging the skaters wisely this time. He gets to his hotel and rings the operator so he can talk to his family back home. He realises, 'This person doesn't know me! For all they know, I am Norman Mailer, or a Caped Crusdaer. I could even be a supermodel!' this cheers him up. The operator takes AGES and AGES to connect him, forever telling him to "hold, please." so he just hangs up. I love the fact that he has a little lisp in this song, IDK if he has it other songs, but it isn't edited out in here, which just makes this song so cute to me. |

Writing what it means to me would take too long, so I'm going to post the link to a story I wrote about my first Relationship with a guy, and you can see for yourselves. | Evanescence – Call Me When You're Sober Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yeah, UrSoFnSpecial, that's what my sister thought too, but when it came out here she wasn't dating Shaun, she was actually ready to get married to some complete other guy, a Psychaiatrist (sp??) who I think she may or may not be married to yet?? | |
| Evanescence – Everybody's Fool Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
My original meaning was something like a scene from that movie, The Princess Bride, the scene where she's dreaming that she's walking down an aisle and Prince Humperdinck has just announced she will be his bride. Then there's that old woman who yelling "boo! boo! Go on, bow down to her! Go on!" and just generally being nasty and telling people how fake she is. I visualised this as something like that. Amy is walking along and some people start whispering behind her back about how cool she is, and then one person who isn't blinded steps up and starts dissing her, telling her how fake she is ("Look, here she comes now, bow down and stare in wonder. Oh, how we love you! No flaws when you're pretending. But now I know she never was and never will be, etc."), and it turns out this person is in authority. Amy continues doing what she does, and people begin to realise how blind they were and start doing what that person did, and begin to vandalise her property and steal her stuff, making her miserable, and order her to be crucified. The person who spoke out against her was a past love, and as she is hanging on the cross, dying, people begin sneering at her, "Without the mask, where will you hide? Can't find yourself lost in your lie!" she says, "I know the truth now, I know who you are, and I don't love you anymore, it never was and never will be, you don't know how you've betrayed me and somehow you've got everybody fooled, it never was and never will be, you're not real and you can't save me, and somehow now you're everybody's fool." meaning, 'I know the truth now. I know what you really are, who you really are, you're as fake as I am. I don't love you anymore, you're dead to me. Our love never was and never will be, you don't know how you've betrayed me by revealing my secret! Siomehow, now, you've got everybody fooled, they think you're so good for putting me to death, but you're not, you're a bad person and they don't know that. That "good" personality never was and never will be, you're not real, and you can't save me' just a break here, someone who still believes in her tries to save her, but she thinks she's hallucinating, so she says, "You're not real and you can't save me" 'And somehow now you're everbody's fool, everybody knows what a henious crime you have commited and they don't love you either.' Although, she may not have been crucified, now that I read over this comment, I get the feeling that maybe she was burned, Joan Of Arc style. What does everyone else think about this? Too Medieval? |

| Evanescence – Everybody's Fool Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| well, if you've seen the video (on MTV and other music channels, but also on the Anywhere But Home DVD) you'll know it's basically about she's the Poster Girl for a company called Lie, which basically tells people they aren't good enough unless they buy this or this or this from Lie (You're Nothing Without A Good Lie, There's Nothing Better Than A Good Lie). And she HATED being this person, "I know the truth now, I know who you are, and I don't love you anymore." But, as you'll see in my next post, I found a different meaning before I watched the video. | |
| Evanescence – Your Star Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This to me, conveys a death. You know how people say, "When we think of him/her, we look for the brightest star in the sky."? well, it's a bit like that. 'I can't see your star, though I patiently waited bedside for the death of today' she can't find the brightest star, even though she sat beside her bed all day waiting for the day to end. Perhaps it's the anniversary of a death? 'How can the darkness feel so wrong.....So far away its growing colder without your love why can't you feel me calling your name? can't break the silence, its breaking me' The darkness, which is usually inviting and welcoming sleep, is now frightening and cold, and she doesn't know why. She's calling and calling the name of her love who died, begging for a sign of some sort to show that they are listening, but nada. No matter how loud she yells and shouts, there's a thick, deafining silence that just won't go away, and it's hurting her inside to know that she is failing to make herself heard. That line, can't break the silence, it's breaking me, also conveys a sort of protest, in which she has just said something out of place and everyone is quiet, but she can't open her mouth and say what she came to say, and inside she's kicking herself for not speaking up. this is just my meaning that I'm getting from reading the lyrics and listening to the song on repeat, so it mightn't be correct, but I am looking forward to seeing what people think of my interpretation. |

| Evanescence – Thoughtless (Korn cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Okay, I have never heard The KoRn version (although they are good), but I really like this song, I did a quiz involving songs, which was IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE? My friend did it and the song for her first day of school was this song. Mine was Heavily Broken by The Veronicas. lol | |
| Evanescence – Snow White Queen Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
M friend's life is this song, especially the second verse. She finds refuge in this song, as she was sexually and physically abused by her ex-boyfriend. What it means to me is a stalker of some kind, who found Amy in her room one night and then either raped her or tried to rape her. They have been following her for quite some time, and she's so afriad that she can't sleep, and when she does she dreams about them, and is constantly looking over her shoulder, and staying inside, pulling her curtains so they can't see her. It seems very experiencial, as if it has happened, and she's writing from memory, but that's a terrible thought and I hope it isn't true. |

| My Chemical Romance – The End. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| You're quite right, XchelsatthediscoX, I first listened to The End for real after my mum's funeral, and when I heard "so throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot," I'm like OMG! When I first heard it, when I just went home and put it in the CD player and lay there reading the lyrics, I heard, "If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see, you can find out firsthand what it's like to be me." I'm like, awww....Poor Gerard, he's so hot... | |
