Wolf Parade – Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts Lyrics 18 years ago
"sons and daughters of hungry ghosts" - speaks about US as the remains of our parents as worn out "consumers"

I got a hand (well good for you.. too bad cause..)
So I got a fist ("i" have power and money)
So I got a plan (speaks to conditioning of consumers)
It's the best that I can do (easier to disregard the moral aspects)
Now we'll say it's in God's hands (blame it on fate, when its actually just humans who can control destiny)
But God doesn't always have the best goddamn plans, does he? (excuse for bad things happening/poverty/inequality in the world)

I gotta get a New bell to ring (a new product to make people think they need)
New song to sing (new tactic to sedate the masses into consumerism)
A steady hand to ring (a consistent group of purchasers who will continually spend) --- as in a wife being there all the time in times of need etc...

Thats it for now.. no need to go through the whole song... too tired now... AC

Wolf Parade – You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son Lyrics 18 years ago
The song is about growing up and realizing you are like your father. I dont think its too complicated. The number on you, is your predetermined genetic make-up. It speaks about the faults parents have that children don't want, but end up having anyways. It speaks about the embarassment of those faults by the children.

I am my father's son
and I am my father's son
his bed is made (his lifestyle is set/his personality is set)
I was a hero
early in the morning (You think you will be different in your adult life.. but..)
I ain't no hero
in the night (...you end up like them when you grow up)

watching you run
farther than guns will go
you are a runner
with a stolen voice

this section simply speaks about the youth trying to escape his fate of being like his father (parents), but it is futile (ie. "stolen voice")

Wolf Parade – I'll Believe in Anything Lyrics 18 years ago
Don't want to get into it just yet.. but id like to say.. I LOVE THIS SONG. I LOVE WHAT YOU ALL HAVE WRITTEN!! It is important to decide what we feel the song is about, but there is no perfect answer. I like the drug idea, BUT it could also be a metaphor for religion.. as in - "religion as a drug"... so much to think about... Check out HANDSOME FURS if you like WOLF PARADE and SUNSET RUBDOWN... all artists from WOLF PARADE in those other 2 bands..AC

Handsome Furs – Sing! Captain Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree that the song could possibly be outlining the disparities between the city and the periphery, but i think it is more about the city growing into the rural areas, and taking it over. SOME REVISIONS TO THE LYRICS:

There's a town, just a little town
Raining cloud, a hollow sound
When our LOVERS gather round
And if they're cold
Then they're cold
Feed them WIRE, feed them chrome
We hate this place here
It's our home, It's our home

And your car-collapsing trees and I'd return them back to sound
With the torches in our hands we will reduce it
To the ground.. rest is ok.. i think
