*wonder if this IS a suicide song... I really should stop leaving out verbs. It's getting annoying. |

This song is breathtaking. I looove it. Looooooooooooooooooove it. Too bad it wasn't on Plans! You know, I almost wonder if this a suicide song. I mean, I KNOW the "torn flesh and broken bones" thing could be metaphorical, but there's also the "explanation is not an excuse" bit. Makes me wonder. If you think about it THAT way, it kinda changes how the song works. |

I definitely agree with JimmyKane. Jason White's version is tres awesome. Which makes me of think of the really complex nature of the issue of hand. His album was called Shades of Gray, and I think that speaks volumes about that song. Even though the act of abortion itself was bad, the person involved obviously wasn't...just a little young and unsure of the consequences of his actions. There's an incredible amount of regret in that song, and you can't help but sympathize. |

I'm a big fan of this song. Of course, I'm somewhat prejudiced. My dad wrote it. =) ...Just one note on the lyrics though...It was actually 'cool east Texas mud.' But I think chesney changed it so it would be more personal. |
