| Since I heard it in a concert by a troupe of comely, talented Irish lasses, I'll venture to guess that it's an Irish folk song. It sounds like a typical tale of separation, probably written during the period of Irish diaspora. Reminds me of "Van Diemen's Land", "Danny Boy," "Forget Me Not", and a few other songs of similar topic and meter. I'd like to know if anyone knows who wrote it and whether or not Inisfree is an actual place. | |
