i think that bear's brother did not exist, at least not in the situation the bear is talking about him, but instead he is saying he has a brother at the bottom of the cliff so the fox will not have the moral dilemma of eating his friend. |

i'm pretty sure "laid a 9 on my sleeve" is right, for all we know the number 9 might be a reference to something in daryl's life...just as times 10 is repeated a lot...
anyways
i'm pretty sure this song is about his disease, the fact he brings up a man digging a hole (just like in EYEWTKAS)
most of the song is about him dreaming he no longer has the disease, and the bridge and the last stanza are him realizing it is just a fantasy... |

| Thursday – Ladies And Gentlemen: My Brother, The Failure (with Tim Kasher) Lyrics
| 18 years ago

i always heard "i hope you know you're a fucking mess"
though "i offer you know forgiveness" also makes sense
and this song is soo deep on so many aspects, geoff paints a picture of a free-loading brother, and at the end of the song it is revealed that he is the brother and himself, he is the good side in the relationship with the girl, but when that ends he falls back into his old ways... |

polished sand would be a mirror,
its facing punishment and reflecting on yourself
while reflecting the kid decides he is gonna just rebel against his parents adn that they are dead to him
its basically telling a story about a kid who rejects his parents compleatly |
