Ashes Divide – The Stone Lyrics 18 years ago
i wasn't surprised at how much i like this song, It's pretty cool that Maynard James Keenan's son -Devo plays cello for ashes divide. Also the fact that Billy demonstrates his multiple- instrumental talents which is good. But hopefully there will be another APC album in the near future as well.

The posted lyrics above seem correct for the most part, only a couple things that should be added/changed at least the way i hear them:

"We survived
well we can change"- sounds more like---

We survived what we cant change.

Also "Flowers never breaking through the stone"- sounds like there is a "we're" said before it.

what DarkAxel said is completely true, when alot of people hear the romeo and juliet part, they automatically think "oh they commited suicide, so this song is about suicide because it says their names"

Tool – Parabol Lyrics 18 years ago
everytime i have listened to these set of songs i have always felt personally that it means that this world that has been wrapped around our eyes isnt real. in order to distinguish one thing from another our brain sends electric impulses. think of the matrix. and a reality that is equally possible because if you could manage to send your brain impulses that said some "was" or "wasnt" then it would be as real as anything else. meta-physical things that seemed so impossible before could be obtainable. most when they realize any of this they think that maybe if they chose to die then it really would not matter and they could continue on from the station where they once controlled their brain, possibly in another energy frequency. People travelling between different frequencies?- alternate universes. This could be why people say that the aliens they see somehow just "dissapear" before there eyes. this could be that they are multi-dimensional beings and they have the ability to change their frequency through mastering brain signals.

"We barely remember what came before this precious moment "- meaning we dont know how we got here, we have forgotten through generations.

"Choosing to be here right now, hold on, stay inside
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal, all this pain is an illusion"
Choosing to be here - meaning we have realized that there is other means of life but we will wait this one out. - all this pain is an illusion- meaning that if we can counter the brain sending a signal saying that we are witnessing pain, isntead realize that it really isnt existing, then live "eternally" in another frequency.

much more thought is behind this opinion but even if it is not maynards intention, then it still makes sense to me and that is realy the purpose, he writes songs for his own self, then if other people can relate it to them selves then Right on.-

a short summary is: he kills her, totally bones her dead body, she comes back from the dead and kills him, then he comes back and they have a wedding and kill everybody there.

This song sounds a lot like a young man going through puberty. and his mother is telling him that he is unavoidably going to change. something along those lines

Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics 18 years ago
i havnt really taken the time to read other peoples comments on this song, but i saw a couple that seemed really good. about how the egyptians left the rosetta stone for translation in greek to their language.
But what really caught my attention in this song were the lyrics
"Such a heavy burden now to be the one
Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending.
to write it down for all the world to see.
But I forgot my pen. Shit the bed again. Typical."
This reminds me alot of how Muhammad the prophet, supposedly talked to the angel gabriel -who came to him saying that man has corrupted the bible and that he would present Muhammad with the last chapter-the final verse. and Muhammad wrote down what gabriel told him. which was the Qur'an. And in the lyrics of the song it makes it seem like the guy has been given a message to deliver from something higher, making him a prophet of sorts. but he forgets it-probably due to the drugs

Tool – Intension Lyrics 18 years ago
estillopanama does have one of the best interpretation. his idea kind of goes along with what einstein said when he said " i dont know what WW3 will be fought with, but i know world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones" meaning we've got so much dangerous technology, it is enough to blow everybody off the planet, and we will have to start all over in rebuilding a new world. almost like we devolve .
i think this song could also be about growing into an adult. thats the obvious thought, but theres always something more behind a tool song.

Tool – Right in Two Lyrics 18 years ago
i agree with a lot of what most people have said, but i have another thought.
I think the phrase"Right in Two" would be meaning sacred and secular.(sacred meaning everything that is dealing with god and secular means everything else, not dealing with god) as the renaissance in the 1300's-1600's. with the invention of the printing press, it was easier for people to make copies of the bible instead of writing them by hand. and then they didnt need a priest to translate it to them, and that made people start to interpret the bible by themselves and people would argue over what different things meant. "fight over writing" . i have not found a way to make some of the lyrics work with this thought, but i think a good amount of it makes sense. i really like what sickimage said too.

this song is awesome, especially since jimmy sullivan(the rev) gets a major singing part in it which is awesome to hear and since we wont get to hear anything new from pinkly smooth anytime soon. hopefully he sings more on the new album.
