"by freakishfae on 04-17-2003 @ 07:24:48 PM *notices all the mindless language and misspelled words* Jeez people, grow up. How old *are* you? Anyway, I think this song is testiment to the fact that Godsmack is becoming a sellout. I think this is the worst song they have ever done and it doesn't have a meaning as it was written for a movie to make money. They have never exactly written soul- moving poetry, but these lyrics are just awful. Oh, and don't "insult" me just because I think this is the worst Godsmack song." Oh, get a GRIP. If you aren't here to discuss a song's meaning, (which, despite whether or not a song has INTENDED meaning doesn't mean that a listener can't pull a subjective meaning from it!) then just "Fucking go away". The song is about religious independence, and to me, independence in general. It depends on the interpretation of the "Your so-called Goddess" line, which could mean someone deified and hidden behind to take all blame (Bush...) for the ones that stand behind /him/. "You think we don't see you there?" Godsmack's lyrics aren't MEANT to be poetry, they express something a little more... angry Than your "poetry" can handle. They(for my part) represent independence and the fire that still burns in some of us. And I hope YOU, freakishfae, read this. Who cares about sweet, sad poetry? I don't mean to "insult" you. I just want to remind you what this site was intended for. Whether it's good to you or if it sucks, there are SOME people who still enjoy it. No matter the band, eventually, they'll have to do something different, and pitching in for a ST is definitely "different" for this band. "Sellout" is the ONE word that makes me wanna ram my head through a wall... Why is that so important? God, you make it sound like they never "Sold out" anything before. The actual music is what matters, NOT the context it was written in, whether it be for a movie I've never seen, or (not referring to Godsmack) if it was written on an acid trip. |

It seems like the fan-song is most plausible. Kick-ass song. Heard it on the navy commercail and JAMMED for 15 seconds... -_-; Yeah... Hyped on rock. Regardless of any arsey flamers, Godsmack is a really good band, ranks right up with Disturbed on my list. Sully's amazing in all his songs. |

I fell in LOVE with this playing NFS: HP2. It was just such a great song. ANY way. The song's meaning's been put up already, but me with my overkill, here goes-- The song's about fame, and what it does to you. Lines: Lies, deceit, the dirty looks, and the things they like to say(About all the people who flame and spread rumors about someone who just hit the big leagues) Bags that hang below your eyes And the full length mirror never lies And it all comes so disgustingly clear(About how you can end up looking at yourself and about realizing that Hollywood's people aren't as "beautiful" as they seem. A nice suit would clean that up, now wouldn't it?) And the friendship rolls onto its side And you wait for it to die(Saying that a lot of times, you can lose your friends that you kept for so long when you're in the spotlight) This is your life, it's all been ordinary Until you find all you're worth Then you find your life is all but something ordinary(About how normal life is until you get discovered, and how insane it can be after.) It's like "Fame isn't always what it's cracked up to be. You still worry, you still have those high-school style haters who spread shit about you. But it's all on camera now, and who needs that? You just try to look good, and stay human. Sometimes you just wanna go home and go back to that." There's my two cents. Great song, love it. |
