I don't think this song is about her sister or death at all. I think this song is to her husband. Amy took off five years from Evanescence so she could become a wife and a normal person for a while. But now she's "swimming home" back to Evanescence, and telling her husband how much she still loves him, but that she loves Evanescence still as well. "Way down, I've been way down underneath this skin waiting to hear my name again" She's hidden herself and evanescence under her skin, and pushed it down. But Evanescence is her, and she's been waiting for something to call her back to that life. "I'm sorry nothing can hold me I adore you still but I hear them calling and nothing can hold me" This is Amy telling her husband that she's decided to go back to the band and the rockstar life. He's held her in that life for a while, and she still loves him, but she hears the fans, the band, and whoever else calling her back. And maybe before she had reservations, but now she is committed to it. "I was looking to the sky when I knew I'd be swimming home and I cannot betray my kind They are here It's my time" "I cannot betray my kind" The musicians, the fans, the rockstars are her kind. She tried not living that life for a while, but now it's called her back. She's swimming on home, back to the stage, leaving her husband behind, but still loving him. |

This song, to me, has two meanings going in it, playing upon one another. The first is seen in Lacey's use of the screaming and the 'speaking' (I use the phrase speaking because she isn't singing it out like the other parts, i.e the chorus) of some verses. So, Part 1 of the song is this idea of being misled, and "swept away" by a man rather than God. Lacey is obviously upset at those who use their preaching and congregation for their own benefit and profit, rather than healing the world and praising the world. "Angelic in your syntax, Demonic in your motive. The water flowing from your well is not fresh." this paired with the screaming of help, out, and now. These verses say to me that Lacey has encountered a person who is using faith merely as a way to control and bring people to him, and she is not pleased. Faith is for Him, not you. Devotion is to Him, not some man who has a "glow[ing] smile." The first two choruses are Lacey warning those being lost to this 'preacher' that his healing is "turn[ing us] all the way around." And that he is not going to raise you up, but they don't listen, they start to hear, but they haven't yet. Lacey is still combating with him, trying to show those that he is not Him. "Your deeds are just for showing. They're staring at something else. I rage against everything that you do. Get this hell out of my way." Hell being the false worship, borderline idolatry. This person not doing anything for God, but for himself, and these people are buying into it, becoming swept away. Now, Part 2 - God is the one who should sweep you away. "Admit you've held them shut! Hold up your open hands, confess all that is broken." Have true faith in God and He will raise you up, taking all that you are, and make you better. Lacey's religious view to me has always been very wonderful in expressing how forgiving God is, and I feel that notion comes through in this song. "Be swept away by This." Lacey is trying to save those who have gone done a bad path and need to be brought back, who have fallen into the hands of another. And it ends with her screaming out&now again because these people are still out there, the preachers that is, those who will use God to gain their own agendas, but followers of God must surrender to His calling and experience Him. I believe the lyrics are. "You sought to undermine." and "I Don't see reasonably how I could be.." As for the meaning. I think that this song is very expressive; that is, Shikhee is trying to use every aspect, her voice, the harsh aggressive sounds, the lyrics to show this guy that she won't forget the things he did, and even if he changed, "he's a different man", she still remembers the past and no matter what he says, "words mean nothing at all" she's not going to stay anymore. She wont be there "for another day." THe lyrics display the want to leave someone who is trying to change for the better, but the bad that they're changing from is always present in her memory, and she can't stay with him. And the music's aggressive tone sort of exudes Shikhee's own frustration and confusion. . . and anger. |

This song is really amazing. The band is great, and the vocalization from Maria is incredible, from the proclaiming and boisterous "We're fighting without a reason" to the verses done in that awesome screaming. Definitely one of the more impressive songs off "The Dream" For me, this song means something very universal, and that is the idea of people simply being ignorant to things that are different or not what they want them to be, and the want for those things to end. "We're killing her, we're all in treason." By being obnoxious we're destroying America, and we're making it something that America isn't. America stands for a Country that accepts all walks of man, and by dividing it, we are committing treason. I think that Maria is writing these lyrics to try and plea for people to stop fighting and hating each other and to let the divide present in this country to become mended. "Why does fear dominate, When all we want is peace, The empires fall, and rise again." The message of peace is many times delivered in a very not peaceful manner. (i.e. war) War causes empires to fall, and then they rise again under a new government's order, thus instilling "peace." But the peace making actually makes everything, well... not peaceful. Blood is being spilt by the hypocrisy of our own actions, both world-wide and right here in America, and this song is crying out, actually screaming for an end to all the vast gaps and spaces that are just filled up with violence and misunderstandings, when really we should just try to understand those things better and simply try to coexist. Well Done In This Moment, your music amazes me. |

First off- I completely understand the line "Scream like bunnies" When a bunny screams... its more of a shrill cry; the kind that would break glass. It's kind of cool actually, but the meaning of it in the song is how Little kids scream crazily at the smallest thing. Something you said is all it takes to freak them out. Fear might be in the water, so its not near you, its under the surface, but its still able to get you, because it is all the things the singer says. And it scares the little ones, so they scream. like bunnies. |

| I only glanced through the posts above, so this may have been stated, but I find this song to be about sex. And no, I’m not perverted; the symbols in it point more to sex than love to me. Even though Amy keeps saying that the pursuer is her love... it feels more like it's someone looking to "make" love. It resembles the situation that many teens go through where their first partner pressures them into giving it up. The words seem to not be written from Amy's perspective... but rather the thoughts of the person who wants her... and the phrase, "there's no escaping me my love, SURRENDER." To surrender her body into him and let them become as one in "love." Sex. Nough Said. | |

At the venue i was at, he made it all dramatic. hahaha. "This next song is our first single off our new album.
