This song really does convey a lot of hurt in a relationship, but to me never really meant a full breakup. I always listened to this song paired with "Hold Me" because the way he almost yells "Love don't leave me" says to me he isnt fully ready to break the relationship, and in "Hold Me" its the moment where you realize that's you've grown apart and your hurting because of that. |

now, this is really rare for me. i'm not analysing this song for a deeper meaning (shock! horror!). in this song in just really love the whole composition of "breathe, echoing the sound time starts slowing down sink until I drown (please) I don't ever want to make it stop" just the melody and the words. without a deeper meaning it's a beautiful progression. and yes i do think it's about addiction but not specific. "never be enough to fill me up" could also be sexual because Trent has hinted at bisexuality in "The Only Thing" well that my opinion down, if anyone cares =D |

i am in love with Trent Reznor and his music but i have never touched weed. don't presume stuff like that, you'll make an ass of yourself. and one thing this song reminds me of is a scene (or a couple of scenes) from the book 1984, by George Orwell. the main character Winston Smith is taking a train to the country to see his forbidden lover and on the way back he is doubting his decision. the govenment will kill them both if caught, but they still do it. they are eventually caught and Smith is imprisoned in a cell with no windows but 24 hour flourecent lights ("Nothing ever grows and the sun doesn't shine all day"?). just think about it those who have read the book. if you haven't i recommend it. |
