Alesana – The Last Three Letters Lyrics 18 years ago
When I first heard this song, unable to figure out the screamed parts, I thought this was a spiteful song about a lover scorned by a girl who never writes him back.

I'm actually kind of sad now knowing that it's much different.

Alesana – Ambrosia Lyrics 18 years ago
Ahh, another tale I am fond of...

King Midas, a ruler known for his unsurpassed rose garden, finds a drunken, passed out Silenus (foster father of Dionysus). After taking him home, Dionysus tells King Midas he may have anything he wants in reward.

Midas wishes for anything he touches to become gold. However, this becomes a curse, after realizing he cannot eat, as food turns to gold as soon as it touches his lips. He ends up touching his daughter, turning her to gold.

I enjoy this song greatly, especially the new music video.

Alesana – Icarus Lyrics 18 years ago
The line is from the tale of the young Icarus and his father Daedalus, who built the Minotaur's Labyrinth. They are both imprisoned in a tower, and unable to escape by ship, Daedalus makes wings of feathers and wax for him and his son.

When they make their escape, Daedalus tells his son that they must not fly too close to the sun lest the wings melt, and not to close to the ocean or the wings would dampen and he would fall into the water.

However, the youthful and arrogant Icarus flies too close to the heavens, melting his wings and crashing into the waves, drowning. Daedalus, struck with terrible grief, buries him, naming the land Icaria (a real island, FYI).
