I think that this song is autobiographical, meaning he's talking about himself in the song. He's a loner who doesn't really fit in. He smokes, just as a hobby (but I don't think that's the main thing of the song). Day and Night, he's a loner, but at night is when he feels the most comfortable and can free his mind. Letting out his imagination and creativity. |

Here is my little interpretation, in case anyone is curious:
I think that the girl (Greta or not) is strongly attracted to the kind of sulky, artsy-writer type of boys, who are usually too refined for just a one night stand. (The "won't matter tommorrow")She's obviously looking for a no-strings-attached fling, with the type of guy she's attracted to.
"Oh to be in his mind" is her wishing that she could be the one the boy thinks of in all aspects- smart enough to have a one-night stand with (because saying you nailed an easy whore is not very impressive, but a fling with a usually unapproacable, classy girl who doesn't put out much is), and very sexy.
When they finally do it (as it sort of implies he would be her first) ,she will make sure it is mind-blowing, winkwink.

The same thing happened to me as it did to katielicious-x0 and xxmodernlove. But me and him were together for six months. I really did put all my faith and trust in him and even gave him my heart and then, like they both said, one day he just decided to end it all. I like both Manson's and Panic!'s versions, but I like Panic!'s better because while it's not a scary as Manson's, it gives off a more theatrical feel to it. And I absolutly love the part where Brendon sings: "I am the "Who" when you call, "Who's there?"

I think it's actually about Peter's overdose. Or at least the emotions that led up to it.
But anyway, I can relate to this song alot. Especially the "I want to be known for my hits, not just my misses" It's just a song that says "Nothings going right, what's happening? Is there really no hope left?" The song is very passionate, and while it has a rather sad message to it, the song brings me hope in depression and light in the dark days. God, that sounded corny. But this song is just one of many many reasons I love Fall Out Boy. |

Well...the way I took it was that 'he' left 'her' because 'he' had to go somewhere far away, (maybe like, on tour, or something?) and it kinda led to a bit of a fight, so as 'he''s leaving her, 'he' starts to regret it, and tells 'her' that 'he' needs 'her' and stuff.....yeah.

:Ahem: Um, I think it's :Love songs for the genuinley cunning", not "far from the genuine becomming", and "Got postcards from my former self" not the house calls thing. And instead of "Our beliefs of kissing beats over this room " in the second verse , it's "Robbing Lips and Kissing Banks under this moon" (Get it? instead of robbing banks and kissing lips...? :D)
Anyway, I love this song SO much. The sound...the lyrics....But especially the vocals. God, the way Patrick flexes that already awesome voice of his in this song...especially when he hits that one high note in the last chourus..gah~! *faints* Anyway...Yeah, I like the screaming. :) |

As soon as I hear the intro to this song, It's like someone slowly poored darkness on my head. It's so easy to get into the character of the song. As soon as the first line is sung, I'm entered into the the dark world that is portaryed in the video. I get goosebumps and I feel like i'm 'out of my mind' . I'm not sure if that really makes any sense, but as a writer, I got a sort of twisted imagination. This song is the sole inspiration for a story I'm writing called "The Elephant Theater Mortuary". But you proboly don't care. :)
As far as the song meaning, I think the other people got it right. No need for me to elaborate on it. :) |
