| Say Anything – Shiksa (Girlfriend) (feat. Caithlin De Marrais) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song sounds like it should be in some musical. like a punk rock version of romeo & juliet. haha i don't know, i'm dumb. | |
| Hanson – Yearbook Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
this song scared the crap out of me when i was like, eight and like vroom4 said, now that i know it's a mystery even to the band it's still a bit creepy. anyway, for all the awful teen pop that came out of the late nineties, hanson weren't bad. |

| Gym Class Heroes – Boys in Bands Interlude Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
it's actually - and so it goes ... we mouth the words when your tongues are too paralyzed we finish up the peanut butter and jelly that you get in your rider but you never eat we still pee in bottles we played at your graduation parties we have fallen comrades, we just rebuild the team our friends are rich and we love it because it makes us look wealthy too shit, i still got a sidekick one with a crack in the fucking screen, man we were your favorite quote "i'm the first person to know about these guys" end quote band we dance to "use me" by bill withers in a drunken stupor until ma and gary tell us to go the fuck home and kick us out we make mistakes we love, we hate we're not angry anymore though still miss you still love you like a slug hates salt and we're still your heroes |

| Gym Class Heroes – 7 Weeks Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| favoritefavoritefavorite; listened to it on repeat at least thirty times. reminds me a bit of papercut chronicles and kind of makes me wish i were in a band. william beckett's sung verses are lovely, and this is coming from someone who couldn't care less about the academy is. | |
| Gym Class Heroes – Viva La White Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| ehh. i don't know how i feel about this song. disashi is fucking amazing here and is possibly the most underrated guitarist ever, at least for the warped tour set. and using a cocaine addiction as a metaphor to an addiction to music - or, possibly, the dark side of the music industry - is interesting. the lyrics themselves though, aren't; it's not a very eloquent song, which is unfortunate. i realize this is an unfair criticism; obviously the papercut chronicles was GCH's "mature" record whereas schoolchildren is their "party" record, but still i think this song's subject matter is more personal compared to that of other songs on the album and travis kind of fails here lyrically. his singing voice is nice, though. | |
| Cold War Kids – Rubidoux Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| sorry to be pissy about the lyrics. and thanks for the enlightenment, artistikfreedom; that's an awesome reference and i feel a bit stupid for not picking up on it, haha. | |
| I Am Ghost – Pretty People Never Lie/Vampires Never Really Die Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
shyboy - if by not falling off you mean playing the same songs over and over for three albums straight rather than growing musically, then yeah, i'd agree. but that's just my opinion. :) i don't listen to MCR, but i'll give credit where credit is due. |
|
| Elliott Smith – Single File Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i'm still unsure what this song's about, although it's interesting reading everyone's interpretations. i love the line "your arm's got a death in it," though. | |
| The Streets – Empty Cans Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i wonder where he's running. | |
| The Streets – Dry Your Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i agree with what squid_8 said like, four years ago. mike skinner definitely is a modern age story teller. a grand don't come for free is a masterpiece of an album; it's difficult not listening to it from back to front. if you're not familiar with garage (i wasn't prior to listening, being american), it took a while to get into - which is great, because the genius of this album is that mike's story reveals itself over repeated listens. and grand was definitely not your conventional hip-hop record; the emphasis here is on story, not rap. that being said, this was one of my immediate favorite tracks. the lovely added sung verses are simple and beautiful and make the cliche "there's plenty more fish in the sea" seem meaningful. (apparently chris martin provided the vocals in an unreleased version, but i'm glad that one didn't make the cut.) it's hard not to relate, really. | |

| Death Cab for Cutie – New Candles Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i'm wondering if maybe the narrator is talking about how hard it is to get over past relationships (old flames), no matter how many new flings (new candles) you try to start? | |

a gypsy told my fortune then i told her hers i said: "you'll die high in the mountains wrapped in silver furs you'll be looking for your lover in the midnight sun and you'll perish for your lover when the frost has begun" i have a way of seeing and it's nearly gone and nobody was listening so i wrote this song and when you know the chorus you can sing along you destroy the thing you love even though you know it's wrong lovely! but what, exactly, is cactus brandy? |

| Rilo Kiley – The Moneymaker Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I agree with the above post. The best part about rilo kiley was always their amazing lyrics, not jenny's voice." um, what? some of the people commenting here are gret representations of the reasons why i'm embarrassed for being a member of the young indie rock scene. |

haha spicyyy - the cd booklet made me feel old; i had to use a magnifying glass to see the lyrics, no joke. but you're right! it may not flow as well as their previous album did (which honestly i thought would be impossible to top), but singularity is definitely on my best of 2007 list. ilovemae. |

| Brand New – Untitled Lyrics | 18 years ago |

butImeantlove - UntilItKillsYou wasn't even referring to the album title. it's pretty obvious that "the struggle between man and god," man's personal relationship with Him combined with our conflicting sinful desires are two of the album's main themes. and everyone knows where the title "the devil and god are raging inside me" comes from, you aren't special :) sorry this is so late. |
