We Are Scientists – This Scene Is Dead Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's about when you go out with your friends. You're simply looking for a good time, and as the night comes to and end you realize you're not ready to go home. Everything is dead around you but you still feel like the night has life to it.

I agree with that part, but I also think it has something to do with drinking in order to have an excuse for something. "Everythings another excuse, to keep from doing what I want to, like I would really love to kiss you, but I guess I'm in no condition." He's using alcohol as a crutch so he doesn't have to face the things that make him vulnerable. Because, since he's under the influence its a good reason to do the things that he shys away from doing.

This song is amazing live; it's good on the CD too, but much better raw and uncut. It's a shame though, i think they could've done more with the video. I like how they usually have a story, this time they settled for the generic band in a room thing.

some might call it vague, i think it's genius.

Lifehouse – Broken Lyrics 18 years ago
I guess I see the kidney transplant thing makes sense. Lets reevaluate this.

"the broken clock is a comfort, it helps me sleep tonight"
analysis: when you're awaiting something so drastic, a procedure that can make a different between life and death, time seems like the most nontrivial thing in the world. you feel every second of each minute because you're anxious of what's to come. you can't sleep. now that the clock, or "time" is broken, you're more at ease. less anxious.

"and i am here still waiting, though i still have my doubts"
analysis: involving yourself in something like this, getting close to someone who might not make it, that's scary and requires a lot of security. he's doubting putting himself close to the person in the situation. but he wants to be there for his friend, so he's staying, although he's damaging internally.

"i'm falling apart, i'm barely breathing..."
analysis: paralleling himself with his friend, he's weakening so much, but at the end of the tunnel there is light, "there is healing"

"the broken locks were a warning, you got inside my head, i tried by best to be guarded, i'm an open book instead"
analysis: again, having to do with his uncertainty of involving himself on someone he may soon lose forever. he tried to be guarded from the situation, he tried to be ambivalent and not think too much about what was at risk. but he couldn't, he's outwardly "falling apart," letting his guard down.

"broken lights on the freeway left me here alone, i may have lost my way now, haven't forgotten my way home"
analysis: the last hurrah. he's broken, but hes growing from it, there is hope yet.

Just Off Turner – How Much It Hurts Lyrics 18 years ago
I'd really like someone else's perspective on this, it's killing me. I'm guessing it's about someone who feels that their partner think they're always the better one in the relationship. The singer feels neglected in that the partner never claim their pride for them and always has the upper hand. No idea.

Lifehouse – Who We Are Lyrics 18 years ago
Bless you, coleclark. Whoever submitted the original lyrics really needs to work on their ability to translate music to typing.

Anyway, I feel this is another identity crisis song, but about a couple. The couple goes through so much together, ups and down, good and bad, and through all of that they truly find out who they are. They don't have to resort back to "who they were" to figure out who they really are. They know who they really are after all they've encountered together because those struggles and rises have made them their true character. Wow, if I'm wrong I feel terribly stupid :]

So, obviously lifehouse is a Christian band, even without knowing the name of their previous band "Blyss." Anyway, I know a lot of the songs are religiously related, but not all of them are. I'd like to think this song is about hitting rock bottom, but being with someone who means so much that it doesn't make a difference.

Lifehouse – Whatever It Takes Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song. It's really simple and straight forward, but I'm still really intrigued by it. Brooding, isolated boy meets girl, loves girl, but doesn't let girl in, finally she gives him an ultimatum: if you want me you have to let me in, he lets her know she's worth "letting in" through this. cuteee

Lifehouse – Disarray Lyrics 18 years ago
I like this song... it's very real. I feel it reflect a little bit of uncertainty, someone trying to find their place in life. They are trying to trump evil and do good, but in life they see that theres such a thin line between the two that it makes the battle that much harder. He sings about everyone around him trying to "make a statement" while he's just idling around: that's like a lot of people. They see others doing things with life, knowing their boundaries, knowing their viewpoints, but then they look at themselves and they're completely unsure. Definitely an identity crisis song.

But in the end I think he accepts that he doesn't know what he thinks, but is just sort of rolling with the punches?

Lifehouse – Make Me Over Lyrics 18 years ago
"depth perception becom-ing the new deaf and dumb" is what it is, actually. i don't get this song, but i love it. i agree about the wife thing. i definitely get the whole song-about-someone-you've-been-with-forever vibe. maybe just about wasting time in love? like being able to be with someone forever, doing absolutely nothing, but it's great? numbing perhaps? or it could be the total opposite, maybe he's changing for her and he hates it? i really don't know. but it's good in either case.

this would be so much cuter if he wasn't married for 6 years already. it'd be a lot more believable. but, it's an amazing song. great lyrics without being incredibly abstract. you guys should catch them live (or just youtube it). thats actually where i heard this first, it sounds a lot better than the CD version, less pop, more rock. watch their NISSAN performance.

coleclark is right, that's what the lyrics sheet on the cd cover says. this song is amazing, i've heard a rumor or two it's based off this kid who commited suicide in canada or somewhere. when i listened to it at first, i definitely loved the instrumentals&vocals. it was reassuring to see they were sticking with their whole rock thing still. once i heard the story behind the lyrics it made it all the better. god, i love when he does the whole screaming thing. it's not as great live for this particular song though.

one of my favorites on the new album. gotta admit, i wasn't too fond of it at first, but now i absolutely love it. this ones a bit obvious. two past lovers who split, he's obviously come to terms with the split, acknowledges that it was a good run, but ultimately they both are at fault for its termination. good stuff.

Lifehouse – Broken Lyrics 18 years ago
so, the lyrics are botched a bit:

"maybe it can stop tomorrow from stealing all my time"
"the broken locks were a warning...you got inside my head"
"i'm hanging on, another day.."
"the broken lights on the freeway, left me here alone..."

great lyrics, good song overall.
