Just a warning before you read this... i am extremely tired, therefore this may not make sense. But I think this song is less about religion and more about a friendship that has been lost in the stretching of time. Honestly, I will just come out and say it but when I first heard the song the first thing I thought was his tightly knit friendship he has had with John Nolan since they were very young. Both of them went to the same Christian school so it makes since that Jesse could intertwine all the religious things they learned with the idea of their friendship growing distant. “We'll take it easy, tigers in a cage We're pacing on our pads, and waiting For the time to come in reverie Our lazy bones ache for our dowry” When he says “tigers in a cage” I thought of teenagers (wild and free) stuck in the suffocating cage of a small town or their parent’s rules… or whatever, just limited by society. They are waiting to escape and live their own lives. Also the fact that the song is plural throughout the beginning and then goes to singular at the end also makes me think it was a friendship that feel through the cracks. Also in the line, “our lazy bones…” I think teenage years again, because mostly teens are lazy. “The closest thing we had to royalty A chance to break our parents' pattern We chose to keep our teenage tragedy In lieu of their romantic palette” Again this line makes me think about teens who just want to break out of their town or get away. Their parents pattern is the fact that their parents never left the town that they had always lived in and married in (yes I know Jesse’s dad was a solider, but regardless he came right back home after his duty). “Teenage tragedy” line could be referring to the one moment that really ruined Jesse and John’s friendship and they were never the same afterward. It is referring to the night Jesse found out John slept with Jesse’s girlfriend, hence the “romantic palette” “You can't hold on to the thrill So I hope you find your will to follow through What we invented, I am now ending Hold on to who you love We are dry and blown like dust since we were young What we invented, I am now ending.” John can’t hold on to the thrill of being young anymore because he is married and had to be mature, hence that Jesse hopes John can “find your will to follow through”. And the friendship and lifestyle they has invented Jesse is ending because John got married and moved on. So Jesse is telling John, “hold on to who you love”. “I know you're busy But please won't you come visit me? You are an aimless ghost You haunt your bag of bones.” “I know that you are busy…” with your new life and wife, but please make time for our friendship (notice here that it goes from saying “we” to “you” and “I”.) “You are an aimless ghost,” you don’t know what you are doing and your body is just a “bag of bone” thrown around by fate. ”The wolf messed with your vision He is sitting in your kitchen While you sleep tonight He will eat your young And you will act surprised” Honestly I don’t really get these lyrics, but I will take a stab at it. I think it is Jesse secretly hoping that the marriage fall apart. |

One'll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Two'll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Three'll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Four'll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Five'll love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply, 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Six will love you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. Seven loves you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. [x2] Seven loves you so much, but do me a favor baby, don't reply. 'cause I can dish it out, but I can't take it. |

Wrong agian. "Her signal was interrupted. My baby's frequency not strong enough Remain in my hands and smile. "We will miss you but in time you'll get set up, we will write" Hey, you beauty supreme. Yeah, you were right about me. But can I get myself out from underneath This guilt that will crush me and in the choir I saw our sad Messiah. He was bored and tired of my laments. Said, "I died for you one time, but never again" Never again, never again, never again Never again, never again, never again Never again, never again... [continues in the background]" |

It doesn't sing that at all. the lyrics are: Said, "I died for you one time, but never again" He is talking about the Messiah. As in Jesus, You know how he died for our sins... and Jesse being Christian. |

Nope. He wasn't cheated on. He was the Cheater. Hence the guilt that will crush him. |

I think it is about the holocaust. It seems to fit. The fact that the writer of the song has been victimized, the non sesical killing. it just all fits for me. |

I DOn't think this song has anything to do with break ups... i think it's just about regrets and mistakes we make when we're young. Like letting people take advantage of us, or hurting a best friend. Just all the lesson through life you have to learn. I can truely relate to these lyrics. I thinkit has a bit to do with his own stubborness as well. |

omg... these lyrics are SO wrong... "Nursed the Shoreline like a womb" "Reports of lover's tryst where neither clear nor descript." "Today's the day we drop out." "GAve up my body and bed All for an empty hotel." "Wasting words IN lowercases and Capitals." "By then i knew it's you i can do without." |

| I disagree... i think that Seventy times Seven is WAY more intense than "There's no I in Team" | |
