At a concert, Alyssa told how she wanted to be on Broadway and she got some kind of disease where she wasn't expected to walk ever again. She was angry with God. She thought God had taken away her dreams. Then she said she had this thought that God still loved her, wanted her. She wrote this to say how amazing God is that He will take us, through our anger and pain. She said that if she never walked again, she would be perfectly content just laying in bed, praising and worshiping God.
Just to shed some light here. I love this song and have admiration for all 3 girls.

it is actually
"i'm consiously unconsious"
i think it has something to do with being abused as a child when it talks about blaming his parents. then going into a depression "i turned the page to the chapter they all thought was just a phase but it consumed me" or possibly dealing with the depression with drugs or cutting or something of that matter. the consiously unconsious part reminds me of feeling like your alive but numb to everything around you.
I love the line

ok after going through nearly all 8 pages of comments (which are all extremely repitive) what i can get out of it is
"I made sure that I look how I wanted to look.

--he does what he wants, looks how he wants. then when he gets into the crowd aka school, concerts, etc...people judge him and he sees them and maybe they seem so much more "hardcore emo" than him and it makes him think of himself as a fake. like he can't really pull off the "emo look". but in the end
"genuine fake"
--he knows how he feels inside and he knows that he doesn't have to make it public about cutting and looking all emo and whatnot. he knows who he is and what he does is for him only. after all...that is really what emo is. its not the way you dress or how your hair is fixed. emo is on the inside and eventually yes it does show through to the outside(cutting, dress, hair, possibly even writing and poetry). ok this has totally turned into me. this last part is strictly how i see emo. whenever i cut, dress, and so on, i dont worry about impressing others. no i am not absolutely sure who i am and why i do what i do but that doesn't make me a fake....maybe in some eyes it does but at the least i am a genuine fake. |

i see this song as referring to getting high. obviously many of the other songs on this album refer to or directly state something to do with drugs and i really see this one as doing the same.
"come sink to the bottom with me"
it just clicks in my head that the writer is addressing getting high
"we're all rotten, buried and forgotten"
some people think of drug addicts as rotten and some addicts think of themselves as buried and forgotten.
"Living it up underground"
this makes me think of a basement.
"So take a ride"
in other words.."so get wasted"
"Give it a try
It really is a wicked way to die"

ya i agree with the whole suicide/cutting factor about it. thats the only thing that really comes to mind when i hear this song. i think this is why it is my favorite. i love hearing songs that go along with what im dealing with in my life. which is how most paramore songs are. the soundtrack of my life. kudos to paramore |
