Personally this song to me is about coke... another way to say 'to snort coke' is "I blew" or "to Blow".. it is supposed to free your mind somewhat.. make you more loosened, your body, your mind- set you free. by doing it he can leave the physical world... leave his troubles. |

hmm this song is very interesting... in my opinion I think that he is expressing himself through childhood experiences reflecting on himself now.. I think he realizes that back then you were so care-free and happy as a child, and it's pretty much corrupting and upsetting at the same time to know that as you get older- the same things you once enjoyed are pretty much meaningless to you. For example... kids laugh at things like bugs, being dirty. As an adult, majority of adults would be angered by such things. It's really neat to think about |

I think this song is about how he doesn't let people in- not that he doesnt LET people in but the fact that people don't even stay because they're so different... with their prospectives.. mind.. everything. By blocking out the negative vibes and the fact that they block people out "fixing the hole" they can maybe let people in again... making their door colorful makes it seem like they are welcoming and inviting |

If you've seen the movie... I'm sure this song makes a little more sense. Even though the movie, and all his music are metaphorical... if you just LOOK at what he is saying it makes so much sense. This has to be my favorite song by them at this point- It's basically about how he's supposed to be like everyone else... he's supposed to be like this cut out person.. this image.. the same thing all the time. It's like if youre in school and someone says: whos that girl? and you automatically say: oh... she's a slut. It's like that. He showed FEELINGS oh man... and basically is exageratting.. maybe not even that much in my opinion- the fact that it's such a big deal that this person actually showed his TRUE emotions... in this society people are supposed to be a certain way... and for him to be different was like a big deal... "tear down the wall" is the wall that hides all his emotions... just to tear him down completely and show what he's truly made of |

this song is pretty much about Syd in general.. people who can relate to this or understand metaphors can see that he is referring to himself as the lunatic.. the plural being in my opinion all of them. The whole point of "seeing you on the dark side of the moon" is the fact that there IS no dark side of the moon- the whole moon is infact dark... so basically either way it comes down to darkness.
I also thing as others have that it has to do with doctors trying to figure out what is wrong in his head, when they speak of "raising the blade" and "making the change" he wants them to fix him until he is sane. and now he is in an insane asylum [sp?]
I think he is pretty much screaming out that no one understands him, where he's coming from, his mind... but to him it makes perfect sense. but he knows that because no one understands that there must be a problem. |
