@comedian - I think you have some good ideas in there, too. The first line shows some level of apathy toward religion maybe. As in, show me the grave and I'll say a prayer... to make others happy. Or maybe he's not that apathetic when he says "stowaways" since that's typically seen as a negative term. I still don't understand what the need for a reference to 'guile' is. If the line is, in fact, 'leaves' instead of leaks then "the falls" would probably be the season instead of the references to water. But, to call autumn 'the falls' is a pretty awkward term. Perhaps the 'pioneer' is the person that died, and not the singer. The person may have been his lover (as seen by the lines 'you fly straight into my heart'; 'I felt you so much today'), so she beat him to the falls, thus making her the pioneer (relative to him). |

This song is about death of a lover, or the death of a relationship. I think it's more about the death of a lover with the lines "You fly straight into my heart" like he can feel her after she's gone; which goes with the line "I felt you so much today" and the lines "Your heart makes me feel | Your heart makes me bold". "Show me the dirtpile and I will pray that the soul can take three stowaways" confuses me. What are the three stowaways? One of them could be him - like he wants to go with her, but what are the other two? Also, why does she vanish with no guile? Why would she vanish with guile? I'm still trying to figure out what "the Falls" have to do with it and the references to water. |
