The meaning to this song is pretty clear. The girl has a boyfriend, but she is cheating on him with the singer. The singer finds a thrill in doing this, knowing he is the one causing the problems in the relationship. He has obviously done this before, now it could mean he has done this with the girl before, ruined her relationships, or with other girls. but from the first line "What's the deal with your new boyfriend?" kind of hints he has done this with this girl before. he is "in it to win" he wants their relationship to end. anyways great song love it. |

agreed that the album kinda blows. although the vocals are still amazing, the music and lyric quality just eh isnt up to par as chroma. this song deffinitly shows the bad side of this album. i think the best song on the album is i will hide myself away, just because its so awesome to have two songs in one that are so contrasting in music sound. |

I think that DressedToTheNines, Seewa, and SeeingRed have all kind of come up with the meaning of this song together DressedToTheNines i dont think its just that he is having a bad day everyday, but like Seewa said that he is having a friends with benefits relationship with a girl, and everytime he trys to take it into a real relationship she shuts him down "I'm always hoping for some enjoyment from disappointment" i take that like he is staying with her in this FWB relationship because he belives that eventually they may become more than that, I feel this way from a few other lines too like "The lightning hits my chest But the shock is so routine for me these days" as if he has brought up this subject to her many times before but everytime he receives the same answer from her "My knees are quivering" i see this as he is nervous of leaving her because he truely likes this girl, "The cliff's edge so inviting" i see the cliff as leaving her, its so inviting to just leave her as it is going nowhere, but he is to scared to do it for fear of losing her. And SeeingRed i completely agree with your interpretation of the last few lines, he is trying to reach out to her and let her know that if she does come around and be with him he will make it worth her while. Just my thoughts on the whole situation, i just heard this song the other day and got addicted |
