| Dirty Projectors – Swing Lo Magellan Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
This song sounds like it's lamenting the ease of navigation in the modern age. The "ball of light" is a GPS satellite - invisible to the naked eye. The people on the shore are using handheld GPS that reflects in their eyes - "in the grid, aware their position." "Magellan" refers to a specific brand of GPS unit that the narrator uses, seeing his frame in its pool of light and being disappointed that he cannot navigate by intuition. "9 by 6 or 8 by 7" may refer to some technical aspect of GPS. There could be other meanings too, but this aspect seems straightforward. |

| The Weeknd – House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Love the way the beat and lyrics both turn druggy. | |
| Titus Andronicus – The Battle of Hampton Roads Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The beginning alludes to the actual battle of Hampton Roads. This song is basically an indictment of humanity, and a call to solidarity, to rejecting what you've been told and trusting yourself. At the end, it seems to describe a punk who knows he'd be nothing without mainstream society to rebel against. | |

| Sounds like a good ol' drug trip. Maybe Salvia. | |
| Sondre Lerche – Modern Nature Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I can't believe people think this is about sexual orientation at all. The "modern nature" is the drama-fueled, idiotic nature of modern relationships. The singer simply wants to avoid this in his current relationship: "Forget all your technicolor dreams. Forget modern nature, this is how it's meant to be." he's just saying that if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. We don't need any of the other "norms" and expectations in relationships. |
