If you think of the lyrics as things that he said to her, as opposed to the other way around, it 100% makes sense that she is singing about dating a 30 year old when she was 14, and espicially someone in the music business. "if it weren't for your maturity none of this would have happened If you weren't so wise beyond your years I would've been able to control myself If it weren't for my attention you wouldn't have been successful and If it weren't for me you would never have amounted to very much" I think those lines completely sum it up the best for me, again, if you think of it as things he said to her. |

| Rasputina – 1816, The Year Without A Summer Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I agree with Balisong, this song is relating 1816 to global warming, with how people blamed it on conspiracies and such. The song directly relates things in the past to now, talking about how horrible it was and how it could very easliy happen again. I live in northwest washington, and it went between snowing and being warm on and off, which has never happened before, and some weather sources are predicting small snows in June. | |
| Amanda Palmer – The Point of It All Lyrics | 18 years ago |

First of all this isnt by The Dresden Dolls - It's by Amanda Palmer who is a member of The dolls but she preforms it solo. I think the idea of a drug addict friend is the most likely. I first heard this song live when I heard this song I really wasnt sure what it meant. I really did just think it was about someone making dolls, how it talks about June making things with a sewing machine and talking about "collection of fine distinguished friends", which ties into the "needle" but the drug dealer idea makes more sense. there are still some lyrics which im not sure tie in but all in all this is a very powerful, moving song. |
