| To me, this song is about a guy who is completely in love with a girl, but he can't muster up the courage to tell her. He is distracted by other things in his life, possibly this is a long-distance relationship, but finally he tells her. She just looks at him, and doesn't say anything back. The next day, the guy apologizes to her the abruptness of what he said. She hushes him, and tells him she loves him back. The "tidal wave" and "outer space" refer to a long relationship, despite the obstacles. Their relationship has ups and downs, but they are happy together, as he had hoped all along. | |
