at first i took the lyrics for face-value, but from about 2:30 to 4:30 with the --"I tried to jump straight through the suck --Headfirst but now my freakin head is stuck --I'm feeling like a stupid schmuck --Lucky for me I don't believe in luck --Thank God I don't believe in luck" lyrics make me think it's more of a "tongue in cheek" song - in other words, klayton saying "i'm really goddamn unlucky - but i don't really BELIEVE in luck, so i'll make the best of it" LOVE THIS SONG. |

I hadn't considered war, but that's an interesting suggestion. However, this could be explained in another way: Father (or mother) and son witness a murder, then father/mother kills him/herself, and the narrator is the child talking to their deceased parent. "The killer straight up and body face down" - remembrance of the murder scene "Smell of farewell and gasoline" - remembrance of the suicide scene "Listen - my son" - if taken literally, this one's obvious. |

ilovemyjesus... it's written ambiguously and if your band wants to sing it in a religious setting, that interpretation will be seen pretty easily. if your band is going to seriously not play their songs because they aren't "clear and open about being christian"... ...i'm sorry, but... criticizing an art for ambiguity is one of the least mature and idiotic criticisms that can be made. the greatest arts of all forms GUIDE your thinking, they don't force you to see it in a certain light - such as things like math. it's what makes them great. it allows YOU to paint the picture in your mind - it's perfect in your world. |

| Linkin Park – With You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I believe that it's more specific than just someone who's not with the speaker. Rather, that the man/woman that they were with led them on and/or controlled them. Eventually one of them ended things and the speaker is saying that they won't continue to be led on/controlled, but that he/she still cares a lot about the person and that person still haunts them. I also sense a bit of desire to still be with the person... | |

like all good art (songs ARE art, for you few dumb shits who don't know this), its made to be interpreted in many different ways. written as more of a "Guide to Thinking" than anything. general theme seems to be correlate to any person/group that solicits unfounded hatred but doesn't take responsibility. then, furthermore, takes out anyone/people/things that get in the way. i.e. -witch hunt of the early colonists of the usa -war conspiracies -your local dick who spreads lies of people to make someone an outsider again. open to interpretation. exceptional art. |
