| Motion City Soundtrack – My Favorite Accident Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"You hit the road and left me an ocean, I can't swim in the silence of your skin- please let me in." when I first heard this song, i had been doing some traveling. I took the lyrics as meaning exactly what they say. She left him the ocean, she moved away and all he had to do was look out over the ocean to wander where she was. Also, the lines where he says "please let me in- side the time I had to forget you. inside no chance of us all" it seems like he is telling himself he needs to forget her. Kind of answering his own question. Like, If I get inside and we get back together what is going to happen? "no chance of us at all." This is such a great song plus the line " I spent two years alone with you" definitely applies to a lot of relationships. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – State Street Residential Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it's about the world crashing around you. He feels stuck in the routine of the drinking and it's becoming hard "to come clean". I listen to this song when I"m driving and also when I'm drinking. I love the part "If I were sober would I kill caution and stay over?" The things we do when we have a little alcohol in us...it makes me sad to think about at times. | |
| The American Analog Set – We're Computerizing And We Just Don't Need You Anymore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think the title is another way to say you don't need someone anymore. When I listen to this song it makes me think of sitting in a room, completely absorbed in a memory. They are on 'half-speed' yet 'wild and free'? When you watch a videocassette you can put it on half-speed and that's what I think it all means. He's watching his memories of this relationship go by slowly...he's computerizing and he doesn't need her anymore. I don't know, that was a revelation that happened while I was writing my comment. |

| Blue Merle – Part of Your History Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I can't believe more people haven't commented on Blue Merle. The music is amazing and lyrics even better. I've listened to this song a lot when I travel. I usually share it with my traveling buddies and we relate to the other side of the story: the person doing the leaving. I think nerelands is right. I wonder sometimes from what viewpoint it is. Sometimes it seems like a father figure and then other times, a lover. I think a friend would be the best analogy...and a great friend at that! |

| Minus the Bear – Fine + 2 Pts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I never really thought about this song much until I was driving back from the city after meeting up with my ex. He has dark hair and dark eyes but the line that got me was: transparent in the city today. I think it's about someone looking right through you. Like finding an old love that leaves you feeling completely exposed. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Your Bruise Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
to pinaichicka: The first line: It's a backwards attraction to your forward eyes. He's saying that it's wrong that he's attracted to her. Her eyes look forward but his attraction to her is backwards, almost misguided in a way. the second and third line: but you're so far-sighted that you can't place trust in what or who you recognize. When someone is farsighted they can't see what is right in front of them. I think it means that the girl is looking past him and into the future. When she looks into the future, she sees that she might not be able to trust him. When you focus on the 'what might be' in relationships, you can never appreciate the here and now. |
