| 3OH!3 – Don't Trust Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

the song is very catchy. I get an interesting reading from this. I feel like the singer has a lot of self-hatred going on. The needs whores to fool himself into feeling loved, saying "she wants to touch me wahoo / she wants to love me wahoo / she'll never leave me wahoo, wahoo hoo hoo". He obviously knows that if this girl is a whore, she probably doesn't really love him, will most definitely leave him, and is just using him. He knows deep down he's being used, hence "don't trust a ho". But he is just as guilty as her! He's using this girl, just wants her as a piece of meat. The line "shoosh girl, shut your lips, / do the helen keller and talk with your hips" clearly shows this. I hate that line so much because it is so dehumanizing to women, but I have to admit, it's funny and catchy too. And he is aware of all this, he knows he can't trust a 'ho', but he knows no one should trust him either. He's a dysfunctional, screwed up, desperate human being, he can't just anyone and no one can trust him. It's actually quite sad. But also very catchy! |

Oh come on people, this song has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with homosexuality. It's beyond a stretch- it's just ridiculous. But boy do I just Looove this song. It is so adorable and cute and catchy as hell. I heard it at the end of 'Dan in Real Life'- great movie by the way. I love Sondre Lerche's music, awesome stuff. The song was stuck in my head for days upon days. Very romantic in a sweet way. |

Gosh, I LOVE this song! It's so energizing. I see it as about big business people. They make loads of money and just think they are the greatest, but a lot of people like this tend to forget about what's important in life, they might miss, "the call of a lifetime ring". The artist knows that despite financial success, they lose in the real areas of life. "there's so much you could learn but you don't want to know", and that is their loss. Don't ever forget about the underdog! |

People have done a great job analyzing this song- interesting stuff! I find it hopeful, yet sad at the same time. Our dreams aren't always the best for us. I love what people have said theoryzing about the song. I think it's interesting how he says, "Everybody wants to pass as cats", because cats tend to be seen as very independent creatures who don't really depend on anyone, which kind of contrasts with the singer's desire to be loved so that he will never be lonely. |

| Editors – Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I feel like this song is about looking on the past with regret, and the feelings of hopelessness many people experience at some point throughout their lives. "Someone turn me around, Can I start this again?" illustrates regret in the past and a longing to change what has happened. The image of smokers outside hospital doors is certainly ironic, if not depressing. I also like, "I can't shake this feeling I've got, My dirty hands, have I been in the wars?", once again demonstrating that nameless frustration and sadness that so many people live with. |
