oh and, the part where he says "im telling you the truth, im telling you the truth i swear" is reffering to how like, when guys pick up chicks, theres always t his facade, this image that ppl want to sortve emanate, so this line is like when the guy says, no joke im for real, i rele think you have beautiful eyes or w/e. its refering to the guy reassuring that hes for real. then the ironic twist, is that after this line, of reassurance, it goes straight to- i just want your attention baby, every sweatsoaked night every taunting fight (i love this line), see now this line is somewhat confusing, cuz it can be interpreted two ways. One, it could be actually saying htat he might be interested in the chick, he actually wnats her attention and he wants everything, the good and the bad - sweat soaked nights and taunting fights, as long as he can have her. that type thing. Or. it can be interpreted that, he just wants that physical, raw, passion that comes with sex and their immediate chemistry when he sees her. Of course, for the sake of the whole rest of the song, the 2nd interpretation is the best, however, lets just say, FoT wanted to be ironic and turn the song around, it could be the first interpretation. |

And for every1 that added to the sex idea, not only is it jaded masquerade, wearing masks, hiding our TRUE selves ( leave our heart by the bedside) including our actual love for some1, we put that aside, because sex is a trend now, its daily routine we do, its not something we do for love anymore (least most ppl). now, in addition to this- Act One Scene One, this refers to the beginning of any play. I think, that the title is this because in the first step, hes already wanting to fuck the s hit out of this chick. He sees her, no names, knowing nothing about this chick "contradicting fates, its all the same" meaning he doesnt care if she doesnt like what he likes or if she likes what he doesnt like. he just wants to bone her, and she the same. So its like. hey, first step off, i rele dont care who u are, and what u like, lets just fuck. Hence the title, the jaded masquerade (which usually include masks, which also could be a metaphor for hiding oneself-gaurding) |

anyway, as a switchover to the meaning of the song and not the meaning of the title... honestly, i see this song as a love song, but twisted a bit. "We'll drive till' the love that's in your eyes drops to the ground, unravels like a thread. " this means we'll keep being together, keep going as long as you still love me, or as long as you live - eyes dropping to the ground unraveling like a thread- so he's referring either to her love ending, or her life ending. "i only think about her, must get to her, cannot lose her" a very strong line, thats pretty much saying she means everything to him. and there is a great responsibility in that, that he carries, because he has "her heart in his hands" and he doesnt want to see the day where "her tears are falling on his grave" because after hes dead and gone, she won't have him to come home to or what not. and mayb theres another element i have to add. maybe hes going on a journey, be it war, or an excursion away from her for a little while, there is some place where he parts from her "im going on this journey" and hes writing letters to her maybe "i dont wanna see the day, my words cannot make it safe" hes trying to reassure her, he still loves her, that he's "coming home, running home" maybe. and now hes realized he needs to come back, he truly loves her, he "doesnt want to lose her" so hes coming back home, running. "one chance to take back" and then have "no regrets" becuase in the end he'll have her and make everything right. |

yea. bladerz is right. this song is some1 with intense anxiety issues. as you see in the lines, where he goes " kind of have this... Really terrible habit of asking myself all these stupid questions, right? Like what if uhh… what if there's a spot on my body that I can touch to keep my heart from beating? or like what if, what if theres this uhh... stray bullet out there that’s gonna come through my window and take me out? like what if uhh... what if theres this huge unstoppable comet that’s just gonna like, destroy the earth and all of us?" thats paranoia and questioning what could happen and what if in a panciked sense and thus, anxiety. hes probably called a hotline, and is asking to talk to this woman, becuase he needs some1 to calm him down. he used to write to himself to relax his anxiety, as you see when he says" for the last little while I've been kinda keeping correspondance with my sanity, and uhh… I really get the feeling that I’m starting to lose interest in the letter writing process. The pieces of the letters, they just get progressively shorter and shorter until it’s not even a reply. I uhh... the whole thing makes me really nervous. I just wish I could show you what a huge problem this is." furthermore, ppl with anxiety and OCD they have rituals to calm themselves down and relax them. this letter writing process he did with himself most likely calmed him down, reassured him that everythings going to be alright. but now that his letters are getting shorter, hes starting to panic again, his anxiety is starting to give him more worry and more. as we see, "anxiety chokes me like, razorwire" i think thats a very strong statement, to add to the point that he has these issues and they rele restrain him and hurt him. altho his worry and anxiety isnt as real to others as it is to him, "I'm sure this is all gonna sound really ridiculous and uh... I don't exactly expect anyone to believe all this." it still is a HUGE deal for him, beucase its his paranoia his anxiety. |
