no anesthetic, that's what I though too. Perhaps I'm just melodramatic as well.
This song made me tear up the first time I heard it. |

This was the first Wilco song I ever heard. I had downloaded a bunch of music that had been on Gilmore Girls, and this and Heavy Metal Drummer were among it. I swear I listened to it thirty times before I changed it, and put it on every mix cd for months. |

| Prince – The Ballad of Dorothy Parker Lyrics

Dorothy Parker was an American wit in the 20s and 30s who wrote for the New Yorker. She was basically brilliant, and obviously, terribly witty. Ever heard that little saying, "men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses"? Well, she said that. She wrote poetry and short stories, mostly. Check out the Portable Dorothy Parker for a little taste of her. Which is a book. In case you had your doubts. |

| Greg Laswell – Do What I Can Lyrics

Although the song seems to be about "Dad" (Jim?), it reminds me of one of my dear friends. We've had more than our share of fights, but it turns out for the better. And I would do most anything for him. Ironically, his given name is James, of which Jim is a nickname.
I can't say how many times I have told him (though not followed through) that I wasn't going to just take whatever lying down...that "I say what's on my mind."
Anyhow. Besides, this great song needed a comment. |
