i'd like to know more about the title.. maybe "deadwing" is a metaphor for the inability to do something that u are supposed to.. a bird with a dead wing cannot fly.. and that is what it's supposed to do.. fly.. like a writer who can't write.. just a rough idea that came to my mind.. |

isn't it strange, that pt hardly alludes to people that are still alive or that many people still remember..
christine keeler (piano lessons..i guess most of u know but for those who don't,,,) harold shipman.. Marshall Herff Applewhite (leader of "heavens gate", the one who talks in last chance to evacuate,,, you should check out his speeches on youtube by the way, i found the exact extract that was used in the song.. secondly u'll find much interesting trivia about their religion and the numerous suicides...).. anyway, maybe i just never heard about these people before because i was born in 1991... |

one line says "you keep me listening to the bends" and i got an idea of what it could mean when i started listening to radiohead since they have released a great album called "the bends" .. does anyone know if steven actually alludes to this album ? |

hm..that's quite a tough question.. i wouldn't start off with their latest album since i liked the others better.. the cooncept of the new album is a little more conventional and not as strange and twisted as the earlier ones.. i guess "in absentia" contains at least two songs that u just have to know, trains and blackest eyes.. these are like the top songs that they play on every tour,, on the last pt concet that i've seen, steven wilson was about to introduce the audience to the song that they were gonna play and he said something like" now we're gonna play a song that we've )tried to kick off the list but.,,..(a fan screams "TRAINS!!!) apparently we're not allowed to... so i guess u should at least give it a try with "in absentia",secondly, there are a few of my favourites on "stupid dream" like "piano lessons" and "stranger by the minute" which both represent the twisted and hard to understand concept (i guess thats the thing i love the most about pt or especially steven wilson..) i hope that this helps u at least a little. please tell me what u think about these songs and if u agree with my point of view.. cya |

when i first heard this song i was quite surprised since it's not much like songs that belong to following album.. it sounds more like a (like tabuckt said) "catchy" pop song (^^ i love it anyway)
stevens whole attitude seems to have changing during the last 20 years.. i've never heard such a happy pt song.especially the latest songs messages are kind of depressing.i'd really like to know more about the album tarquins seaweed farm and its origin.. even the song titles confuse me (message from a self destructive turnip..?) does anyone know more about this album? if so i'd be glad to get some responses. thanks in advance!! cya debs |
