Nightmare of You also has a previous song which mentions "Eustacia". It is their song "You're Very Dear to Me", where he confesses to women that he finds them very dear to him, and why he feels that way. Eustacia's verse goes like this: "Eustacia, bounding and gagging, you're such a thrill, I put you right on the pill, you're very dear to me, now have your way with me." This makes me think that if this verse, and the song "Eustacia Vye" have any truth to them, that Eustacia was a lover of someone within the band. I think that this song describes his meeting with Eustacia, his desires for her, how he had wanted to get into her bed. It also suggests that he cares for her very deeply, but in a more friendly way than love. With the way he describes Eustacia, it seems as though she is careless, and fun loving, and that's why he is so attracted to her. So when he says "meet me in the sky, we can be free". It's just him saying that when he dies, he hopes to meet her again so that they can be together and fun loving once more. |

A story about two people trying to escape a fire in their town. They are having a conversation about where they are going to go to escape the flames. "The city will be earth in a short while, If I'm not mistaken, it's been in flames, You and I will escape to the seaside" This person continues on to say how they know about a light house close to the town, and they will go there to stay safe. "There is a lighthouse, five hundred yards down, You and I will be safe there" The 2nd person then responds, as the mood/melody in the song changes and moves onto the 3rd stanza. This person then explains how when she was young she came to the light house, and went swimming, and a ghost of a woman saved her from drowing, and how this ghost sang to her about how she lost her lover, and now warns others of the storms. "There is a girl who haunts that lighthouse, She saved me, I was swimming ,So young I almost drowned, Under the water, she sang a story, Of losing her lover, she calls a warning" The 1st person then calls her foolish for even thinking that, and they just need to hurry up and get to safety. "Love, you are foolish, you're tired, Your sleeplessness makes you a liar, The city is burning, The ocean is turning, Our only chance is the lighthouse" The 2nd person then continues her story about the ghost, sort of in a daze about the whole thing. She goes on to further explain the story of the ghost's lover and why she haunts the lighthouse to this day. "Her lover was a sailor, She went and she waited there, The door locked from the outside, Lover never arrived so she sings there, Soft as a siren, luring the ships off their course, How alarming" As they enter the light house, she is almost narrating their movements. When it says "Three ghosts in a Light House" The 2 people then realize there are also ghosts. Locked in the light house forever. |
