WOW! the lyrics are way off. here they are exactly as they apear in the booklet. repititions are left out because that's how they are in the booklet... who would post the words to a song when they dont know the right words January, 1979 saw a terrible crash (and i couldn't help but laugh) as my ear pressed against the past like the glass on the wall of a house in a photograph my forehead no longer sweet with holy kisses worthy of your feiry lips i was floating in a peaceful sea, 'rescued' by a sinking ship if i could become the servant of all - no lower place to fall, you watched me like a 10 car highway wreck with detatched, vulgar curiosity this looking down at the tops of the hats of us passers-by from your 7th floor balcony... from such a height you missed creatures too small for sight to carry on covert conversations and the misguided insects crowned me their grasshopper king with a dance of celebration! after years with their crown on my head i've grown overfed, unconcerned & comfortably numb kept busy indulging in pleasures of the wealthy (someone make me afraid of what i've become!) at the first sign of possible trouble i turned my heels and ran (oh, i'll never learn) my life is a cup of sugar i borrowed before time began and forgot to return, it was a matter of time - i always said i could see so now i'm going blind, it was a matter of time - but i heard somewhere there was a cure for useless eyes? | just because a man is singing doesnt mean it's about a man. there's more than a few songs by xiu xiu sung from a girl's perspective... i imagine this song is about a girl mostly because the line "step out into your short shorts, put out as often as you need to" yeah short shorts could be worn by a man to impress his gay lover... but it's more of a feminine piece of imagery in my opinion... also ive never heard anyone say put out when they are talking about a guy... i could be wrong... maybe the only reason that i picture a girl instead of a guy being the subject of this song is because im not bisexual like jamie is. | |
