@[bluedozen:23012] now that i'm not in highschool (as i was in my previous comment), yes, this is very clear. however, i think that the luscious cloudy escapism is fantastically embodied in the polarity of Day-to-day dram adulthood BS, to the filthily beautiful moments of hedonism that are often just below the surface. opiates are fucking brutal. also, fucking killer riff.. yea...now that i look back on it, it is a theme common throughout the album... "happy colored marbles" is prolly an E reference. idk...the verse "Fillin' up on the poison nut And getting down till the dawn" sounds like people on E. it seems like it could be refering to taking E as an act of escapism. which would go with the theme of the album. |

well, i like to think of wolfmother as the modernized equivalent of led zeppelin; amazingly done, amazingly written, just as zeppelin, but having characteristics of modern "rock" [being catchy, clear obvious lyrical direction (for the kids who eat McDonnalds as MJK once said)]. Bands like wolfmother tell me that modern music stull has some hope. and this song is absolutely beautiful...makes me want to cry. songs like this [songs about love] make me happy. "love" in this modern age are dominated by stupid "emo" bands screaming about being depressed because of some girl. they are dumbing the experience down so much...real music comes dirrectly from emotion, it takes REAL musicians like these guys to turn it so beautifully into music.. im not sure if my lil rant back there made much sense, so im sorry if i didnt... |

amazing song, a masterpiece. its a fun song to cover [as i do in the band i am in], because it very complex, but still very flowing. very progressive, and i am going to just say it: the most beautiful thing ever recorded. ANYWAY, AS FOR THE MEANING... the literal meaning seems to be there, but why? why write a song about vikings? well, aside from the fact that it makes for intense lyrics, and vikings were cool, i would think that there would have to be some personal meaning to it. possibly comparing the experience of the vikings described to something in their personal lives? (they being plant/page...whoever has the writing credits) |
