Its about drugs - heroin addiction aka Hammer. Lemmy is very anti heroin. Once its got you in its grip its gonna take you down, fuck up your life and theres nothing u can do about it. Metallica has even pinched the line "smash your dream" for Master of puppets, which is also about drugs. don't let your mother know - all junkies try to hide it at first, too ashamed to have their mother find out. |

I think the song is about those who act or talk as though they are something there not, not just bands but people in general. The proof that loves not only blind but deaf to me means that his bird is so in love with him that she is oblivious to how crap the music is. The weekend rockstars in the toilets... line is a reference to snorting coke/speed in the toilets, I can't see what else it could refer to. |
