| i think it could have something to do with global warming. i think it has to do with everything that we've done/accomplished/etc. as humanity. sure maybe if you take it to the most literal extent the lyrics go to it's mostly to do with christianity, but since when are lyrics all literal? i think he could be talking about doomsday, global warming, or even his own path as an individual...this song is versatile. and songs are meant for you to get your own meaning out of them, and understand what the artist meant, although most of the time the two go together. | |

| well this song for me is totally representative of one of the most influential relationships in my life. my situation was i am/was best friends with a boy [we used to be more] who is [literally] across the world. he lives in australia. and a while back we went through a really tough time and i just couldn't bring myself to find any reason to stay friends and just wanted to move along but he meant too much..."Holding on with fingers and feelings alike But the time has come To move along" we fell out of contact..."Most of everyday Is full of tired excuses"....i used to think i could wait for him, but i realized i couldn't because i wanted to be like myself...."She's waiting like an iceberg Waiting to change But she's cold inside She wants to be like the water." before him it used to be so hard for me to depend on someone, but then once i realized it was bad for me to depend on him, i couldn't let him go, it was hard to let go. i needed to move on...and i, in a last effort asked him to let it be and let me go..."Can you help me Can you let me go" he used to always question how the relationship could possibly work..."And can you still love me When you can't see me anymore." we got over it eventually. but while it was happening i just wished i could make it simple and find a way to work it out, fix it, leave it, whatever i needed to do. but life isn't like that and i think that's what this song is about. all the other meanings on this page also make sense to me but this is what it means to me. thanks kt | |
