| The National – Start a War Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the line "walk away now, and you're gonna start a war" really resonates with me. For me it is about that point where two people are arguing or even just at the point where they shound be argueing but don't have the guts...anyway, it's that moment when one of them decides that it's too hard to talk and figure it out and it's easier to just 'walk away'. The other person has the guts to stand up for the relationship, wants to 'talk it through' but is frustrated that the other will not talk it out. Hence the line "walk away now" (ie if you give up and leave right now) "and you're gonna start a war" (and it's really gonna screw things up/piss me off/ruin things...) | |

| Stars – In Our Bedroom After the War Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I just listened to this song for the first time (10mins ago.lol) and the thing that struck me the most was that it sounded "musical-like". Funny to come here and see that's what others thought. Awesome song...will. At first listen i thought it was literal, basically after the war, things aren't wonderful, but they could be worse. But now i think it's about rebirth in some ways. A new beginning. the "you were just a kid" line makes me think its about a returned veteran who went to war young. And is now coming back to home and trying to fit into his life again with the help of family/friends/partner. but the song can more broadly be applied to how society recovers after a war. Think about what one person goes through, the emotional turmoil, and related that to society in general. Don't know if that's right, but if it is then it's a very effective. Aside from anything else, the song is BEAUTIFUL!!! | |
