| Steve Vai – Voodoo Acid Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I thought it was more of a sexual/drug Journey. Seduced into sex by bee or two, made a mess, then the queen bee caught him... and was angry! | |
| Flyleaf – The Kind Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Definitely about breaking out of a lifestyle of vice of some sort with the help of god. I think it's up to each listener to determine that for themselves. My take on "your right arm becomes useful" was always that he had been "masturbating" until he found "her" and began committing "sins"... a prostitute or something. I think prostitution because of defiling the bed, the fantasy and pretending etc. This song has one of my favourite techniques though, where they modify the chorus so that's it's not just the same thing sung over and over. It shows a progression to the plot and keeps it fresh. |

| k-os – Crabbuckit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Are you kidding? A solid bass groove, 3 very distinct verses, a wicked saxophone solo, words that actually mean something and that feeling it gives you, where you just want to dance. But you did a good job of backing up your opinion :S Anyway, go to hell or something. |

| Tay Zonday – Chocolate Rain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yes, and that's why this song is so popular. Because it interests people who care to think about what their listening and try to get a message out of the music. It also appeals to people like you you enjoy hollow music for cheap thrills, chuckles or dancing. Superficially the song seems like a joke and appeals to a younger audience because of the funny voice. Really, there is a powerful message, and the fact that you are actively ignoring it is unfortunate. |

| Steve Vai – Fuck Yourself Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Hilarious song, extremely good too. The 4 minute solo in the second half is awesome. Steve Vai's commentary on life and society. All the things he hates are bunched into this song. The new stupid fashions, the pretentious chicks with their minks and diamonds, the government, organized religion. The shots he takes at both the people who come down and him because he knows how to play and the Rolling Stone are the best. Those few lines say a lot considering how little appreciation his music gets, when it deserves so much. It's all just his way of unleashing everything that's been bottled up for a while. Cheers |

| Counting Crows – Colorblind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
You people really ought to stop spewing this garbage from cruel intentions. I don't see how this song is about sex, or wanting to show one's true self at all. That's whats the scene in the movie was about, not the song. Just because they used the song in the movie doesn't mean Adam wrote it about the scene. Just think about it for like 5 seconds. To me this song is about a boring person, trapped in their mundane life. They are colourblind to the world, coffee black and egg white, boring food - boring morning. Taffy stuck and tongue tied? Never has anything interesting to say, always caught up in his own words and loses the moment. I am covered in skin, no one gets to come in? Boring old me, no one shows any interest in me because, well, there isn't anything to me. I'm like shades of grey. So pull me out from inside, come save me! I am ready! I am ready!.....Who am i kidding, i'll always be like this.... I am fine. Of course, the song means whatever you want it to. Just bothers me that people keep saying "it's about showing your true self" "it's about giving yourself to someone" without backing up their thoughts other than "this happened in the movie, so yeah!" Think for yourselves people! Power to metacognition! |

| Ayreon – The Fifth Extinction Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The fifth extinction being the Permian(?) Extinction, when the comet hit earth eradicating almost all the life on our planet. The sixth extinction would be several million years later, when humans destroy themselves with our own weapons. | |
| The Donnas – I Don't Want to Know (If You Don't Want Me) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Ahh the Donnas are so funny. Who else could write such a catchy song about a stalker. Somehow they always put a positive spin or a protagonist sense into all of their "bad girl" songs. Classic | |
| moist – Dogs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
A metaphor for the struggles of the masses of Americans travelling to California to find work during the Great Depression (Grapes of Wrath) Maybe a bit too abstract? Most likely just a story about a girl in California. Evezero, even if "she" is California, most of what you said would fit anyway. I always jsut viewed the dogs at the door as trouble brewing. Even with all my problems you still try and take me apart, bring me down. |

Tumbling through the world Lost the point of it put the past away again had to find out ?want to take a life? but in spite of it put the past away meets the light of day Those are the middle lyrics as well as i can decipher them. not to sure about the ? one, but the rest are good. |

| Ayreon – Day Three: Pain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Apparently, even arjen doesn't know what "Motion personified Alpha" means, and Devin wouldn't tell him. I guess it's just a way to keep people wondering. He'll be the only one with the answer to this mystery that haunts the song. Emotion personified alpha atleast leaves you with some room to interpret, but i don't even worry about it anymore. |

| Kamelot – Soul Society Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Well put dreamer of evil, i think your interpretation hits the nail on the head, very similar to mine, but I have never noticed the references to other religious views, i always looked at it from only a christian perspective. Just wanted to add, "And we strive for the flame As if death was our aim Cause we cannot understand" He seems to be taking a shot at the people who let their thoughts about the afterlife guide their lives. i.e. don't sin or you'll go to hell. We worry so much about what will happen after we die that our lives seem to revolve around it. We simply can't understand. Moral of the story? Confusion. Of course this will tie into the Helena Ariel story. He sold his soul to the devil, did a few things which resulted in his wife wandering off and dying, and he is contemplating what will become of him after death. |

| R.E.M. – Find The River Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I thought it was about an artist trying to find ispiration for his work. he needs it to come fast, but jsut can't find it. He has to leave, go his own way in hope to find something, because the world is passing him by, nothing is going his way. The river is the flow of inspiration that he needs to find. This line "There is nothing left to throw of Ginger, lemon, indigo, coriander stem and rose of hay." is about hisa colours, he can't throw them on the canvas anymore... not until he finds the river. |

| The Refreshments – Carefree Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I thought it was about a guy who liked his good friend. She already had a boyfriend and always came to him for help, with choices and problems. He helped her because he's a good friend, but he actually wanted to be with her. Saying he's carefree is actually being quite sarcastic... | |
| DragonForce – Lost Souls in Endless Time Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think it's about fighting the battle that our ancestors fought, but not really knowing why. They are dead - the lost souls in endless time, and we'll follow their footsteps in this, quite possibly, pointless battle. We're "slaying all the evil down below" because we think it's the best thing, but it's really jsut a "struggle day by day, but never retrieving". The singer seems to be the only one to realize it's pointless and wants to "Take you with me, we will fly across the sea..." | |
| moist – creature Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Lots of sexual metaphor and imagery in here. I think the creature is his addiction to sex, as well as his partners. Seems to be hurting both people involved as well. When he says come, does he mean...? | |
| Joe Satriani – Always with Me, Always with You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is unbelievable, my favourite from Satriani. It brings to mind memories of the past, highschool, girlfriends, that sort of thing. The memories and good times will always be with me, and always be with you. To think Satriani can make music so emotive without any words... amazing. | |
| Joe Satriani – Sleep Walk Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| First thing that came to minf was make-out point from the 50's. it has that smooth flowing sound and all the bends and squeals in jsut the right places. Though it does have a lot of dreary nightime feeling. Like someone is sleepwalking ;) | |
| Joe Satriani – Surfing With The Alien Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Silver surfer for sure. Not only is he on the cover of the album(which is also named surfing with the alien) but you can hear the surfboard fly by every now and then in the song. Swoosh.. very neat, and definitely one of his best | |
| Nightwish – The Islander Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's not jsut an island he's on. The old man is a lighthouse keeper. He's "Showing the way lighting hope in their hearts. The ones on their travels homeward from afar" He went to the island a long time ago. when he see the albatross "The albatross is flying Making him daydream The time before he became One of the world`s unseen" He thinks about his life, his princess and his children that he left back on homeland. At the end he says farewell to the world. He's leaving his island to go into the ocean to die. | |
| David Usher – Devil By My Side Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I take a more pessimistic, or rather realistic stance on this. Believe that all of those bad things are out there, because they are! They aren't going to go away, and we have to accept that they exist if we want to change things. Even if we try to change them though, "It's hard when you realize that you'll never have what you're trying to find" | |
| R.E.M. – The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I once heard someone jokingly say this song was about a snake. It all works out so well though, even if it sounds silly. A guy cant' stay at his house anymore(evicted) and has to keep his pets sidewinder at his friends house. The friend has to do a REALLY good job of taking care of the snake, and if he ever has to wake it up, he better call mike. He keeps calling to check on the snake, hence the scratches on the coin slot. Maybe mike likes the friend to talk to the snake to, and to know that it's really mike on the phone, the friend has to joke with the snake like mike would. tell her she can kiss my ass! etc The friend also has to feed the snake something "substantial" and - yes, read to the snake. In the end, the friend didn't do such a good job, maybe because he fed the snake black eyed peas. The sidewinder doesnt' sleep in a coil anymore.. he sleeps on his back... yep he's dead. dynamic REM lyrics.. gotta love them |

| Dream Theater – Hollow Years Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I really hate when people come onto song meaning and say how much they like a song, yet give no constructive contribution. Right let's discuss how great the solo is on a lyrical interpretation site. Onto interp - I always thought it was the divorce story. Upinthesky has it down perfectly. He's the kind of man who will leave his family on a whim, not talk about his problems, and not really care. She's the kind of girl who will work hard for it, tell you her problems, and when the fall on deaf ears, she'll walk away. The course is like getting out of a bad relationship you thought was good, you begin to see things from an objective persepctive and realize it wasnt' so good. Once the cloud disappears, you will see how hollow the years have really been. |

| moist – Resurrection Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Drug addiction is a good call -" measure pleasure by the twisting of the metal in the vein" - heroin or the like. As for "I saw you strip my babies animal the way you cut them might be animal the way I cut from below" Animal can be used as an adjective to describe a instinctual or animalistic way of doing things. "Stripping" his babies and "cutting" them could be a metaphor for the addiction hurting his children as well as himself, but he can't control it... it's animal. It's almost as if he's saying as he fights the addictiion and tries to beat it down, it wears down his family, and he's going to change that. To reiterate -"You took what my family had, you cut my babies, so i'm cutting you out, i'm coming back from below" |

| Nightwish – Devil & the Deep Dark Ocean (feat. Tapio Wilska) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Sounds like a woman is conspiring with "the evil in the ocean" to bring about a great cataclysm. A new harbinger of destruction perhaps? They with both die, and become more, by combining a human soul with the ocean(however evil it may be) a new being will arise and... destroy the world? She doesn't seem to fully understand what his plans are until it's too late. "i dreamed for pleasure" then later "leave me be!" I was also considering that the lady may be a child, and doesn't understand because she is so young, or maybe she just fell in the water? "the spell to master this earth, carven on an infants tomb" and "this apathetic life may drown" and finally "From the cradle to the coffin, shall my wickedness be your passion" Drac |

| Nightwish – Feel For You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's about two people who can't communicate with each other, like a failing marriage. They both love each other, but think that the spouse hates them. No one is a bad guy, they jsut don't get along very well, and are fighting. 1st - She talks about how much they loved each other, how much she meant to him. 2nd - She conveys what SHE thinks she means to him. "You think i'm cold, an endless nightmare etc" 3rd - "only so many times I can say i long for you" I love you, but it isn't enough for you(from her perspective) 4th - she contemplates suicide, or maybe just leaving him. This may even be symbolic for planning to kill him "I'll feed a snake, drink her venom stay awake" She would be the snake which is symbolic of her growing dark conscience and plans of murder. The next two lines however, would hint that she is planning to kill herself. 5th - This was the kicker, his perspective is what got me thinking this way. "Barely cold in her grave", she's gone, she doesn't care, he grave isn't uncomfortable, look what i drove her to. "Barely warm in my bed" He is sad without her, he doesn't have the warmth he used to have. "settling for a draw tonight" He just cant' win, he cant' express how he loves her, mainly because she's gone "puppet girl your strings are mine" Look what i made you do" Final - She loves him, adn wants him to be happy. She thinks the only way she can do that is by releasing him of her misery, whether through death or leaving him. |
