"If we have no friends here I had few to begin with". Definitely. This is an excellent song, and I'm going to do a YouTube cover of it - shame I can't play guitar though :( so it'll have to be acappella |

Having listened to this song a LOT, it's definitely: "and wander down the street that losers use" and "cause you like to believe that all that love is free for someone like you You'll never be lonely or get the blues" And what is it with some peoples' insistence that every song ever written is about drugs? Superb song, such a catchy melody. |

| One of my favourites off the new album. Love how it borrows (and slightly inverts) the riff from "The Laws Have Changed" in the keyboard part. | |

Good song, but loads of the lyrics are wrong, sorry. "Everything's Well alright Gonna be Well alright" "There's no warmth in the pretty words you say, goodbye" (later on in the song) "There's no warmth in the words that you say, goodbye" "I don't wanna make that happen yet" "Everything's gonna be well alright you and me" |

| I'd say the intro is more similar to 'I Bleed' by the Pixies. Very good song nonetheless, off a top quality album. | |

This song clearly has nothing to do with drugs - it's about settling for mediocrity and not chasing your dreams. So often we take the easy option as it ensures us the "minimum blues", despite the fact that we feel much less fulfilled in the long run. We feel powerless to change our situation and we're so short-sighted that we can't think past 1 or 2pm. And why do we put up with this state of affairs? Because for two days of the week we can do what we like - "Cos it's alright Friday night to Sunday". |

| Spoon – Black Like Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| My favourite Spoon track - the bit where it kicks in (after "I humanize the vacuum") is absolutely sublime, and makes my hairs stand on end every time. | |
| Spoon – You Gotta Feel It Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Always go with your heart. | |
| We Are Scientists – After Hours Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The song is about death - the lead singer said so before they played it at Glastonbury. | |
| The Pigeon Detectives – I'm Always Right Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Good song, but notice how the guitar riff is completely identical to the verse melody in Hot Hot Heat's "Running Out Of Time". | |
| Spoon – Don't Make Me A Target Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I always heard the lyric as "closets OF stairs", i.e. the closet (cupboard for us Brits) under the stairs. "Nuclear dicks with their dialect drawls" is a fantastic lyric. In fact, the whole song is very good, a great start to one of the best albums of 2007. |

| Very good song - reminds me in parts of 'Leaders of the Free World' by Elbow. | |
