I just seen George Jones live last night and when he sang this song WOW he still got it though his voice is not as strong as it was but man the guy is pushing 80 and he can still belt out songs like this......it was so moving. My boyfriend, who is not a country fan, asked me today if the guy in this song killed himself.....and it got me thinking it does kind of sound like he does but then again he might have just died due to old age. Who knows......what do you think? |

I haven't heard this song in so long and today they're doing a radiothon for the local Children's Hospital which serves the whole province of Manitoba. And they have children talking about their fights with cancer and this song is in the background. It makes it seem more real......like the song has more meaning now! I lost a friend to cancer and this song really helped me through the time because I know she lived her life to the fullest and had no regrets. |

boartsm in reply to your comment, in Canada we did have prayer in school. I remember singing the national anthem then it was followed by a prayer. Everything in this song I remember. My parents would never see me during the summer. I was gone, with my friends playing outside. Me and my brother were discussing this song and the line about not everyone making the team was true, I was cut from a couple teams in my life. Also getting daddy's belt we laugh at cuz its all true. I guess this song rings more true to some people than others. Sure nintendo just came out but we weren't allowed to play it for 5 hours straight. Anyways enjoy the song its awesome! |
