| Danzig – Black Angel, White Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I'm pretty sure Danzig wouldn't write a song that didn't at least have some biblical or mythological undertones. The dark angel is likely Cain and the white angel his younger brother Abel. I believe this song is assimilating various interpretations of the story of Cain and Abel. There are also vampire-related overtones, particularly in the first few lines, and in the last few (as interpreted by the White Wolf RPG Vampire The Masquerade in which Cain offered up a blood sacrifice of the thing most dear to him, Abel)--"die in pain, or feed the maelstrom." Do some research, see if this interpretation lines up for you as well. |
