everyones like blah blah blah, its a personal song, it shouldn't have a meaning. Not alot of people understand Kurt Cobain's choice of words. Hes a poet. He gives the words he uses more meanings then we can see. Some people have already analyzed bits and pieces. Good Job! So now, im going to take a crack at it. I could be completely wrong on my ideal of this song, but hell. if you don't like it, don't read it "What else should I be All apologies" In that section like Kegfloater said, hes apologising for not being perfect. "What else should I say Everyone is gay" Hes saying everyone he talks too, is happy, and Kurt isn't happy. In this verse, gay is used as happy, like how back then queer was used as an adjective to describe emotion. istead of homosexuals. "What else could I write I don't have the right" He says that everything he writes is contraversial, and has no meaning. "What else should I be All apologies" Kurts saying hes tired of changing, and people want him to change, and hes saying it like its defensive like yeah, he knows hes not perfect, and people are making him change. "In the sun I feel as one" Honestly, I'm still not sure how to describe what he is saying. Maybe he feels as a hole; like worth something. "I'm married buried" I think Kurt is trying to say, was getting married was really a bad idea, and he regrets it. "I wish I was like you Easily amused" I'm guessing Courtney, always found something new to love, easliy amused, maybe means some sort of A.D.D. "Find my nest of salt Everything is my fault" Find my nest of salt, could mean doing herione. Wasn't Kurt a herione addict? So he probably did a line of herione, and then felt guilty, and blamed the way, he was, and the way Courtney was on himself. "I'll take all the blame Aqua seafoam shame" Well, in this part, hes saying It's all my fault, and I feel awful for it. Or shameful. Aqua, Seafoam, are blue colors, and shame, you could use the color blue to describe how shameful you really are. "Sunburn with freezerburn" Like what dellslave had said. The sun being like way up in the sky, so like high, and then freezerburn, well the cold travels downward, i don't remember why, but it does, so freezerburn could mean blue/cold, like what dellslave had said. "Choking on the ashes of her enemy" I'm just gonna go back to what Dellslave had said; drugs do her harm; well they do everyone harm, but Kurt is giving us first hand experience, that its hurting her, and hurting himself. "All in all is all we are" I guess what hes trying to say is, even if we do change ourselves from the image we have grown into, people are still going to think of us as what we were. (I don't think that part is right) I've been trying to analyze that song for a bit over a year, year and a half, and I still get stuck on certain pieces. To add to everyones comments about Courtney Love killing Kurt, honestly, I strongly disagree. I'm a big fan of Courtney Love, she is very talented, and beautiful women, when she is not on drugs; like I said though, I don't think Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain, because Kurt was fed up with being famous, and being critized, since he really started becoming famous. |

I remember eighteen" Hated Mondays And sitting and staring at the clock dying to get away Don't look back" That part is obviously about high school, and how much of a drag it was to him, and how he doesn't want to remember it, because who wants to remember suffering?
