| Nirvana – Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle Lyrics | 17 years ago |

In my opinion this song is at least mainly about Frances Farmer like most people have said, the title is "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle" because she was born and raised in Seattle and was hospitalized at Western State hospital in Steilacoom, WA and allegedly had a lobotomy performed on her there. This part in particular makes me think of her (also my favorite part): In her false witness, we hope you're still with us, To see if they float or drown Our favorite patient, a display of patience, Disease-covered Puget Sound She'll come back as fire, to burn all the liars, And leave a blanket of ash on the ground Someone asked what the Puget Sound was, it's a large fjord (system of flooded glacial valleys) but the area of land around the sound (which isn't just Seattle but includes it as well as my podunk town =P) is often called the Puget Sound too. Look at a map of WA and the water that cuts thorough the middle of Western Washington is it. |

| Nirvana – Son of a Gun Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Ok, so I know this isn't the real meaning of the song but this is what I get out of it: When I was a little kid I had a friend named Connor and like me he was Autistic, though a lot more so then me so he didn't really talk. Well if you don't know, many people with Autism do something called "stimming" (self-stimulation) in other words they repeat a particular movement to stimulate their senses or to calm down (for example I rock back and forth). Anyways, the stimming Connor would do was just like the chorus of the song; he would jump up and down spinning around while swinging his arms. So whenever I heard this song (original or Nirvana cover) that's what it makes me think of, since the first version I heard was Nirvana's when I was a kid I'm putting it here. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I agree that it is mostly about Annelies (Anne) Frank though not completely but these might refer to her: And one day we will die And our ashes will fly From the aeroplane over the sea This could refer to how Anne wanted to be cremated, the aeoplane referencing how she wanted to travel. Anna's ghost all around Anne was German and in German the E in Anne would be pronounced as an A; making it Anna . How I would push my fingers through your mouth To make those muscles move That made your voice so smooth and sweet How though she died her story is told through her diary. All secrets sleep in winter clothes With one you loved so long ago Now he don't even know his name This could be a reference to “Hello” Silberberg a boy who liked Anne, his name was Helmuth but he went by “Hello“. |
