This is the funniest song I've heard in a long time. My friend and I were laughing our heads off when the guy we were talking to asked us to listen to this song. We really couldn't understand the first verse because he was holding his ear buds in his hand, but we got the message when it got to the chorus. |

Okay I'll admit, I have only heard mainstream rap. I probably should have put the word "mainstream" before rap in my comment before. I guess you can't also look at rock and say that all of it sucks because of a few songs you hear on the radio, but I probably shouldn't criticize what other people like without expecting the same in return... |

Obvious meaning, awesome song. The intro is kinda just there though... I don't really see how it fits with the song, but it sets the "mood" for this song. Maybe I just need a few more listens.
It's basically saying that we value our lives with what we own and what we've accomplished, instead of by how we treat each other. We're unconsiously confined to our own lives and we don't really care about our neighbors. Bribery may also be hinted in this song. |

Another rap song about sex... any surprise there? Is it just me, or does every rap song sound the same, and are about the same things?
Why do girls listen to songs like this? These songs do not respect women in any way. If we all treated women like this, we would have to go through women's rights all over again. Women who listen to this are hypocrates in my eyes.
If songs like this are mainstream and "fuckin badass!!" Then this world is messed up.
This takes no talent to make. In a band there is a drum beat, a base line, a lead guitar, sometimes a rhythm guitar, and a SINGER. And usually when a band has a rhythm guitar, the singer has it, so they have to be especially talented to sing and play the guitar at the same time.
However in this, there is a baseline, and one or two guys "rapping" about how they want to have sex with some girl they just met at a club.
When they rap, they do two or three different notes, then to mix it up, they rap lower, for like 2 beats, during the chorus so you don't realize that the rest of the song is the same. That just gets repetative and annoying. That's the only reason it gets stuck in your head.
My opinion: I hate this song. Yeah, there's a hater on the first page. |

After spending an hour trying to figure out what they were saying for one word, I still have no idea what they are saying... Once again, I would be happy to fix it if anyone could find out what that word is!
Hmm... this seems to be in the same mindset as "A Haunting Reminder". I believe they are talking about the state of humanity right now, and that nothing lasts forever, even us humans, will someday all die out, but more specifically, if we do not see what we are doing to the earth, we may not have an earth for later generations.
Umm... that's pretty much what this song means to me. Another awesome song by an awesome band. |

If anyone could find the lyrics to this song and post them, I'd be happy to fix them. I know I got some stuff wrong, but I did it all by ear, so of course there's going to be something wrong.
That being said, from what I know for sure, this is my interpretation of this amazing song:
I believe this song to be about someone who believes that they do not matter in the world. They were numb to the world around them, and in the second verse, they try to commit suicide. They see all the horrible things in the world ("The walking dead") and they don't think living is worth it to anyone. The desolate angel is how they picture themselves in their mind.
This song leaves me speechless, this is an amazing band that deserves to be on the radio (if nothing else) for their heartfelt and stunning lyrics, more than any "Soulja Boy" ever will. |

Oh, this song... I get lost in it everytime,
even though I bought all of AFI's albums, and branched out to other artists, STS and DU just get to me.
I'll relate this to my life. There is a girl that I love with all my heart. When my life fell apart in the last few months, she was all I had left.
And then, we slowly drifted apart.
I still love her, with all my heart. And I'm supposed to act like I don't really care. =(
This song, as stated above, is about love, lost love. Just brings me closer and closer to AFI. Their old stuff is great, and the new stuff just grabs you. |

I love every album for different reasons. There is no "best" AFI album, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, in my opinion, is as good as Decemberunderground or Black Sails in the Sunset. |

I do agree with [EmpireOfDirt] on that there are only 2 types of people.
I was thinking, I was going to expand on my point, all the references to death (mausoleum door, cemetery gates) could be that she is killing herself with these drugs. And the search lights are her husband finding her drunk or stoned?

Decemberunderground isn't terrible, it made me a fan of AFI, after hearing DU I bought Sing the Sorrow, The Art of Drowning, and Black Sails in the Sunset, and I do think that Black Sails is my favorite album...

I heard somewhere that the guy who wrote this was a slave seller, a guy that went to Africa, got slaves, and sold them in the Americas, and that during one of his trips, they hit a deadly storm, and he prayed to God that he would become a holy man and return the slaves if the storm went away. Guess what happened? The skies cleared, and he turned around, dropped the slaves back in Africa (I wonder if they ever got back to their tribes) went back to England and became a priest.

I can see how some songs could be about drugs, but not all of them. And only half of AFI are straight edgers (Davey and Jade). But how could 6 to 8 be about drugs?
