The Flaming Lips – The Abandoned Hospital Ship Lyrics 16 years ago
I personally see this song being about a breakup/moving on/finding someone else. The first part

"Well, it took some time
Because it's a lot
God, it's a bunch
It's such a big, old, black golden buzz"

Meaning they've been together so long that it took a long time to recover from it. The next part

"And yeah, it took some help
With lots of machines
The experts could tell
With their equipment pushed to the max"

He turns to whatever source of help 'machines' are, whether it be drugs or friends or whatever.

"And sure it seems easy now
But I tell you what
We were perplexed finding the needle
In the needle's disguise"

Looking back on it he can see how much was wrong with his partner, but at the time it was so hard to find faults in what he saw as the perfect person (needle's disguise).

"And now that it's conceived
The station has all settled down
And I'm sort of relieved
And I'm getting over it now "

Now it's officially done, and he is sort of relieved but still recovering.

Beautiful song either way. I just had a semi-breakup and so of course I see every song like this, but it sounds right to me.

Smog – Feather by Feather Lyrics 18 years ago
This speaks to me so much. My girlfriend has been drinking recently and this fits so well. Losing your wings slowly, as in you are just getting worse, and revelations (cloudbursts) are getting less frequent.

Big Black – Steelworker Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm positive it's actually:

"I've never hung a darkie, but i've fed one"

It fits in better with the rest of the theme of the song, which I'm pretty sure is saying how people enforce stereotypes and exert their made up authority over someone else to make them feel more important or special, and that he considers himself one of the few people who work hard and dont' do those sorts of things.

Cap'n Jazz – No Use for a Piano Player When You Got a Player Piano Lyrics 18 years ago
Sounds like he just got done reading Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut, and kryptic basically got the main idea of the book for the most part.
