Skrillex – Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites Lyrics 13 years ago
Maybe it is just because I think Skrillex is gay but I get the feeling that he is talking to another gay guy. Like just as Skrillex is in the closet the guy he is talking to is also in the closet. Like he's saying that they are the same as in they are both both gay and they are cowards because they won't openly admit it. It would really be ironic if the guy that popularized Brostep and made techno/dance music appealing to a male audience for the first time is gay.

The Devil Wears Prada – Modify the Prenounciation Lyrics 16 years ago
Interesting interpretation and it just made me think, when combined, the horizon(a horizontal line) with a vertical line, you have a cross so he is looking towards the cross to end the deception? Maybe that's on purpose, maybe not just thought that was interesting.

Underoath – Writing on the Walls Lyrics 16 years ago
Ok I am going to give my own interpretation of this song and I think I am pretty close to being right I KNOW there is a lot about religion and God but not every single detail is, well here goes

"Maybe we, why don't we sit right here for half an hour.
We'll speak of what a waste I am and how we missed your beat again."

I think he is talking to God in prayer while feeling guilty because he knows he makes mistakes and isn't living up to what God's plans and expectations of him are there for he feels like he is somewhat of a waste.

"I swear we need to find some comfort in this run down place
To bridge the gap of this conscious state that we live in.
I'm short on time."

The 'run down place' must be the earth in general due to it's numerous atrocities and imperfections. The gap I believe he is referring it is our flesh that separates our spirit from God. Our conscious state only comprehends fractions of what our subconscious does. By short on time he may be referring to the fact that knows he will die some day and he only has a certain amount of time to get his life in order.

"How come you try and fit the shape of what they tell you
But mostly what they show you.
That brings us home
I pray for you to move on."

He is asking those who live to much for the world why they try to follow the ways of other so much rather than following God or even just themselves. I think home may be referring to heaven and how to get there. And he is praying for others to move on from there destructive ways and find a better way to live.

"At this rate we can't keep up but I sure can't just sit still.
I'm taking back all the things I said.
Keep me filled in, I swear I'll come."

I believe he is referring to how we are not progressing rapidly enough in our faith to make it where we need to be with God but he is making a conscious effort to change as in just not sitting still. He may be taking back things he said about numerous things but I think they might be things that were disrespectful to God, hypocritical or anything else that goes again how a true Christian should represent himself. Then he is asking God to help him maybe as being filled with the holy spirit(keep me filled in) and he swears he will continue to follow God with his help.

"We will walk alone, back home."

This part is obvious. At many times in this life we are alone sometimes we have to do thinks all by ourselves especially when we don't ask God for help. Back home is most likely referring dieing and going back to heaven(many believe we came from there before we were born). For the most part we are all born alone and we all die alone(except for rare circumstances).

"You're almost gone and I'm ok to give you time to be afraid
I still see your shadow but never your face again
I remember your presence."

He could be himself or a friend who he feels is drifting apart from God. If he is talking to God than he feels like he only sees a trace of God in his life but not enough to see his "face". If he is talking to a friend then maybe this person when from a good friend to only acquaintance. Then he could either remember God's presence or his friend's presence.

"I hope to God you came down.
I hope to God you can feel this now."

Again this, I think could have two different meanings. I think it could either mean he hopes Jesus returns(as in the rapture or just closer to him in his life). Or it could mean he hopes a friend lets go of his pride or maybe even drug use(as in coming down from a high). Then he hopes either God can feel his yearning to be closer to him or he hopes that his friend can feel his prayers in their life.

"I know there must be some way out of here and all of them will be waiting here."

Lyrically this is my favorite part and kinda gives me goosebumps. I am almost positive he means that there has to be a way out of this world as in death can't be the end. And all the love ones that he has lost along the way will be waiting for him in heaven.

So anyways tell me what you think. If this song is written from religious point of view then I am pretty sure I am extremely close the the intended meaning.

Norma Jean – Cemetery Like a Stage Lyrics 17 years ago
I was playing Soul Calibur for Sega Dreamcast while listening to this album and he said the words "On This Stage of History" and it was right after I picked a character
where it says "Welcome back, to the stage of history" I wonder if those wonders came directly from Soul Calibur or
just subconsciously or maybe it's just a coincidence and Cory Brandon has never even played Soul Calibur still though it was a cool coincidence and it made me feel like the game goes really well with Norma Jean! It sounds so much cooler when Cory said it though

Blindside – Sleepwalking Lyrics 17 years ago
I think at the end of this song he is referring to the rapture. "One day this world will see me on the horizon" in death they wouldn't see him but in the rapture it might be possible since everyone will supposedly float to the sky. "One day from a distant light" I would guess he is referring to heaven like someone else mentioned. "Just before I stand to face my love I'll turn around and with a smile I'll say my goodbyes" just basically saying goodbye to the world as he is leaving. I think this makes more sense in referring to the rapture but then it could be death. Either way he is definitely talking about going to heaven. Awesome song for what it is and for what different people's interpretations can make it.

Poison the Well – My Mirror No Longer Reflects Lyrics 17 years ago
XxForMyFriendsxX I agree that in many ways the original singer Aryeh was better than Jeff. Jeff is possibly better at melodic singing than Aryeh but Aryeh just had the most intense screams. Jeff normally screamed gutturally with his throat until the knew album but I don't think the high pitched screams work as well for him as they do for Aryeh. Anyways THANK YOU for being one of the few people to realize that Jeff was NOT ON THESE ALBUM! Geeze people do some research. The wikipedia page is wrong as well. You can tell by listening to the vocals that it is a different person on the Opposite of December than on all of the albums afterwards.

House vs. Hurricane – Comforting Our Thoughts In A Continuous Blue Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song embraces spirituality while criticizing religion. I have emailed this band on a few occasions to ask questions and they have emailed me back very quickly, just goes to show that they are very down to earth and they seemed to really appreciated my support. I asked if they are a Christian band and one of the members said "while our singer is a Christian, we are not a Christian band, I do feel that the if everyone followed most of the Christian ideas of love, our world would be a better place". Not those exact words but basically what he was trying to tell me. You can see some spirituality in the lyrics "Your voice lifts my spirits to a height once held by gods" I think he may be very well be talking about God but then it could just be about someone who really inspires him. The lines "Do we speak in tongues to taste something?
Or is it to convince ourselves that we know more than we do?" definitely seem to criticize those who put on a show in the name of Religion to make others and them selfs think that they are more knowledgeable/religious than they really our. Speaking in tongues is supposed to be a gift from God that takes over your body/mind to the point where you don't know what you are saying and have no control over what you are saying. Yet many people pretend to do it by forcing themselves to do it in front of other people and that is extremely bogus. But even after criticizing religion the lyrics are humble enough to state "All I know, Is I know nothing.
It would be naive to think that i'm not still learning." Basically admitting that they don't know everything either and they are still growing and learning just like everyone else. Even though this isn't a Christian band, it definitely seems they are trying to send a positive message rather than just sounding angry. I love this band and I look forward to them coming to the US. I know they are going to be very big very soon. And I am so happy to be able to say that I have communicated with them while they still have plenty of time for their fans.

Alexisonfire – To A Friend Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with streetweaponx. It could very well be about drug addiction, and mental disorders. There is very often a link between the two. Even thought anti-drug people will tell you that more often that not drug addiction leads to mental disorders I believe it is the other way around. I was completely anti drug until I had been suffering from constant sever depression for a year and a half and I started smoking marijuan. I had never smoked marijuana or done any drug before and I had only gotten drunk once when the depression hit me. Anyways yeah I think this song is about a person that has some kind of mental disorder whether it be schizophrenia, bipolar, anxiety, depression or a mixture of all of them and they turn to drugs to ease the pain but realize even that isn't enough hence "oh there's no relief this world can offer" this is my favorite part because it really hits home to me. I could write so much more about this song but I think I would be frustrated because there has to be a limitation on how much you can type and I probably wouldn't be able to finish my thoughts so I'll just leave it at that............
