The Doors – The End Lyrics 3 months ago
The first bit about the end and last bit.... were about Mary Werebelow, girlfriend from Florida that followed him to LA. She broke up with him and traveled to India while he blasted off with the doors. The in-between lyrics and music were crafted during live shows as part of extending the song and jamming. Soft and sorrowful, stream of consciousness and then back to his soft and sorrowful goodbye to Mary. I read in one of the only interviews she ever gave about her time with Jim that Jim told her much of the first few albums were about her. She also knew exactly what the reference to the "blue bus" was though she didn't expand on it. She lived a sorrowful regretful life after Jim's passing and she was clear that their secrets would remain secrets. No books, no more interviews... Nothing. She passed away in 2023 or 2024. Her secrets stayed with her

Van Halen – Light Up The Sky Lyrics 1 year ago
This makes a lot of sense. I was in 7th or 8th grade when this song came out and someone's older brother had turned us on the Van Halen we absolutely love them and that movie was also a favorite.

I'd heard a few years ago that the meeting had something to do with children attending concerts and using lighters to light up the sky which I thought made sense also but the movie angle I'm sure his documented and makes even more sense. Maybe it's a combination of the two

Paul Westerberg – AAA Lyrics 14 years ago
A reflection on the life of a rock and roll ghost. Living, indulging, loving, fighting, and loving again. A dream too tired to come true ... so tired he doesn't have A.A.A. For me this is the quintessential all encompassing P.W. song summarizing and entire career and life. Amazingly with so few words. It's perfect - stops me cold in my tracks everytime.

Yes – Starship Trooper Lyrics 15 years ago
I did a little web search to see if I could find any insight from Jon Anderson regarding the meaning of his Starship Trooper lyrics. Lo and Behold, here is what I found from an interview dated in this current year; 2010 ... He states, "We are the caretakers of the Earth. And the idea of the lyric just coming out in a clear definition was basically what I was doing with “Starship Trooper go sailing on by.” For me, “Starship Trooper” was my higher self talking to me. “Sister Bluebird” - my higher self. It was my higher self saying “I know where you are, I’ve seen who you are, but I’m not going to tell you because you’ve got to discover it yourself”: “Though you see me, please don’t tell a soul.” What I haven’t seen, I can’t tell. It’s not very whole until I’ve seen it. So it’s all metaphors. That’s when I went through that very strong period of just sketching and writing whatever I sang as being a state of consciousness."

Van Halen – Hear About It Later Lyrics 18 years ago
great song... awesome live video from the old archives... always took this to be the words from a fictional character who lives on the edge. He's "got no money" "isn't home at night". sounds like maybe a criminal "tried and convicted"...
just a fictional character with an edge. amkes for good rock and roll lyrics... no more no less.
