| Youth Group – Sicily Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think this song is def. about falling in love. It shows what truly happens between two people, or how it feels to fall in love, this is beautiful | |

| Damien Rice – Love Hurts Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
hmm. its interesting. It seems fairly straightforward, like he's singing what he thinks. "love is a lie" And i think everyone has felt this way. I think he's kind of speaking to god. "I'm Young, i know but even so, i know a thing or two, i learned from you." like, he's learned love. But, maybe no one else feels that way, so, to him it makes it a lie, and its funny, love and hate are very closely related. Sometimes, its hard to decipher. I kind of like the lyrics to this. |

| Damien Rice – 9 Crimes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Leave me out with the waste, this is not what i do." - Regretting something they've done, treating themselves like garbage. "Its the wrong kind of place to be thinking of you." - They're still in love, but they know that if they think they're garbage, they can't love them as much as they want to. So it's the wrong time and place for them to think about someone they love. "It's the wrong time for somebody new" - They don't want to move on from the relationship, so its the wrong time to stay, and the wrong time to go. "It's a small crime, and I've got no excuse." - They feel that its wrong that they don't like themselves, and they feel bad for hurting the other person because of their insecurities. This is was the best part of the song. "I give my gun away when its loaded" - They make ideas/plans symbolizing a loaded gun, and then giving it away means, stopping it, realising its not a good idea, or they're scared to "shoot" the gun, or go through with stuff. "Is That Alright?" - I def. felt that sarcastic vibe, everyone was getting from that one. But, i didnt think it was like negative sarcastic. It was more like, they're asking themselves, or trying to figure out if they've hurt someone ? This was tough. "if you dont shoot it, how am i supposed to hold it ?" - Still kind of thinking about this one.. I think it might stray away from the other stuff a bit. Like, if they didnt go through with plans, how is the other person supposed to be help them ? I think thats it. Anyways, thats just what i thought. beautiful song btw. |

| Sparklehorse – Morning Hollow Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I can actually relate this somewhat to a movie i just saw tonight. It' might be because i just watched the movie. but, if you've ever seen Black Snake Moan. you might understand this. The girl in the movie has been abused her whole life, and i think the song would be looking from the old man's perspective that finds her. "Trembling and getting old" might refer to a growing fear. Which in her case would be try to go without having an addiction to help her feel safe. "Smelling burnt oil of heaven." could be a reference to her addictions, feeling that urge to take action and fill her voids. The chorus "she don't get up" might refer to, the fact she's pretty much just "dying" from the pain, she has no ethusiasm with life anymore. she doesnt care. or, she's just not going to get better. she doesnt want to listen. etc. the next verse explains of the man, taking care of her. trying to rehibilitate her. The next line is kind of hard to describe. possibly. meaning. she doesnt care about all the bad things she's done, and its not like she can do much about them anyways. so she's giving up. |

| Nada Surf – Your Legs Grow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is what i got out of the song. It's about love. Someone's love for someone else. Either telling them they want them to feel ok, or want to be there for them. Giving them guidance, telling them that their "legs will grow". The line "call me anytime you've got a ghost." kind of makes me think like, either death, a past, or a problem/fear. This line got me completely. "There's a light that rises up from the bottom of the lake, and its beam has hit me hard, now im wide awake." that kind of makes me think like, Something unexpected happened, and it made that person realise, or "wake up" and look at whats in front of them. Love/friendship, people actually caring about them. Having happiness finally. |

| Broken Social Scene – Almost Crimes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
K, this is my intake on Almost Crimes I loved this song from the beginning sadly im not cool enough to buy their albums but ive got the whole thing on my itunes. So, yeah Almost Crimes compared to the whole is somewhat better than the rest of the album that is excluding "Looks Just Like The Sun.", " Shampoo Suicide.", "Lover's Spit", and "Cause = Time". These are probably my favourites like, of Broken Social Scene as a whole. Now, this song like many others probably also has to do with some form of melestation or rape, esspecially focused toward a younger male figure in the song. Also the part where it says "The Yukon keeps me up all night." that might be refering to the cold, like the cold in his heart, this would be talking about the rapist. Its like the rapist vs. boy point of view. And since the boy never told anyone he was touched, its ALMOST crimes because no one knows, except the boy and the criminal. Or, there wasnt enough evidence presented so it was ALMOST crimes. |
