| Anthony Green – Devil's Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I believe in asking for his name, he's asking for its meaning; its definition,- himself. (though I believe we are not defined by labels, but redefine such labels by our actions. "Devil's song, won't be too long - Here the demon responds telling him of his to finally see the evil you've become evils. The Devil cries, all through the night - Night is both physically and symbolically darkness, I don't think there's a reason" - He sees no point in such evil "But my name still means nothing and we're all still, - He feels like he still doesn't understand himself we're all still in the same spot" - We all have evil, and we're all seeking to understand ourselves. |

| Dream Theater – A Change of Seasons Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| he lost his innocence and gained a torch that wards off the ignorance attached to it. I can identify, as I have made such statements as "If I could simply smother my torch until the flame died down a bit, then I could reclaim some bliss associated with the ignorance and innocence." | |
| Dream Theater – In the Name of God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I only read some of the beginning, but it seems to be speaking out how sooooo many take up God's name, claiming that they do his bidding, when that's obviously just a cover up. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Home Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| they're lyrics are so clever, it's amazing. | |
| Breaking Benjamin – Evil Angel Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think you guys have the right idea on the christian references, but maybe [since he isn't a christian] he's saying that some person is his evil angel, his hope, his life, maybe even his love. the "why can't I breathe evil angel?" could be a few things, it could be referencing to how they hurt him, even though before they were the only person not going behind his back. or it could be one of those "you take my breath away statements", or even maybe even it's as simple as him asking why these things[evils;betrayals] occur. | |
| As Cities Burn – One: TwentySeven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| "and not collapse into our own arms" = fall back on God instead of believing we've gotta tough it out on our own and be "strong". | |
| As Cities Burn – Love Jealous One, Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
could the jealous one be Lucifer? could the first verse be from his view? |
|
| As Cities Burn – Incomplete Is A Leech Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
though they are religious, I don't believe they're making a statement about God's grace in this song. although I do agree with everything else the post above me stated. "unless the east never meets the west"| sunset, I think this is another statement comparing a lover to the sun, and he's saying "unless your light never leaves me" "unless you set my sin between your shoulder blades and forget"| unless you carry the weight of the knowledge of my wrong doings and leave them in the past. |

| As Cities Burn – Bloodsucker Pt. 2 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| due to the last few lines, I'm leaning more towards emotionalpunk's ideas. A machine is cold and unfeeling, so why would use that to symbolize god? | |
| Finch – Reduced To Teeth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
okay, the first 4 lines are talking about trying to become perfect, and trying to say that you're better because you're supposedly Christian. "Til death do you wrong" refers to how some believe we become perfect in death, and only in death. "Patients bother a patient doctor" mortals pray to God for change in the stead of taking it upon themselves. "it would take a masochist to live like this" talking about how we constantly put our selves down to move forward. "ignorance is divine" that's soooo obvious and only proves my point, they're speaking out against religion. "Instincts are reduced to teeth, That bite the hand that feeds. Fear thy father love thy martyr." it's talking about how the religious types say 'we sin against god, fear him and love those who die for him' I'm unclear on the next stanza, but I think it's talking about how the religious convict others, even though the bible clearly states "only god can judge" "sound the alarm and make no mistake about this" = 'this is your warning' "All the king's horses and all the king's men Have been sent to put this boy back Together again, but somehow, He must have been predicting the fall..." someone turning from god with every intention to do so, whom the religious can't 'help' as they see fit. "Caged rats, experiments," they are god's lab rats A brain with no oxygen." they don't think for ourselves. Release all the hostages," some are starting to free their minds You've got to wash your hands of this..." you've got to think differently |

| Finch – Bitemarks and Bloodstains (Album Version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Meier: American architect noted for technically innovative designs that blend respectfully with their natural environments. His best-known works include the High Museum in Atlanta and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. obviously he's asking if they can just stay the way they are, instead of becoming something else to blend in. they have a recurring theme on this album that points to not believing in God anymore. (again, refer to my post in Ravenous) When he says "tell me lover what will become of the other? Bones, skin, nails, and flesh" he's referring to how this is all we are and it's going to rot, our flesh will dissipate in time. "they worry you with all the talk of how you're not their kind" could be referring to how the religious convict those who do not believe, even though this is (not that I believe in god either, but it says this in the bible) not their place, only God is allowed to judge. |
|
| Finch – Brother Bleed Brother (Album Version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| by putting the two lines together (sifting seasons through the sand, spitting treason in you hand) and repeating them I think theyre referring to the cycle of human behavior, betraying each other over and over again. | |
| Finch – Insomniatic Meat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I disagree, I believe this album is themed around losing faith and speaking out against religion, even though sometimes it seems like the opposite. check my post in Ravenous, considering the album's title is Say Hello To Sunshine and that line is in Ravenous, it's very possible that it sets the mood for the album. "oh my god, I think I'm blind, I've found one color won't suffice, you promised sleep tonight." he feels as though he's been blind, now that he sees the truth, he can't sleep due to his loss of faith. "Call it a whisper that comes from The distance" ridiculing those who claim to have heard god speak to them "To protect all your children One more, one more, one more minute To fight off the bad guy..." people force their beliefs down their children's throats, supposedly to protect them. I'll finish some other time. |

| Finch – Dreams Of Psilocybin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"The satire's no match for the matter of fact" the satire could be the bible and the matter of fact is referring to science. when others bring up relative point against religion, those who are religious call it "blasphemy" and close their ears. "there's got to be another way" referring to how science is always trying to explain things perfectly, faith is the other way. I think this song is actually about not believing in god anymore, hence the title that implies a different perspective, or enlightenment. he once believed in god and called called others blasphemous, but now he doesn't believe in god as he did. "faith as endearing as the other side" the other side is probably referring to the after life, and this line is probably talking about how people put so much faith in thinking that this is not the end. "Graveyard pulls apart the earth, Revealing all the broken hearts! I'm not the only one who bleeds.." seems to be saying that the belief on where we are going divides us, and those who believe that this is it have their hearts broken even more so when a loved on dies, they bleed more than someone who thinks their lost one is in a better place. "And he walked to the stone to engrave His claim of a thousand souls filled With shame reaching to the highest Notch at the top. With the blood of his wisdom he began To call the names of the Vain and the weak willed alike..." referring to those who cave in and claim that they believe in the God they are told of. "I will have you. Anoint you, wrap you in lies, To devour you all in the blink of an eye," Talking about how religion is a lie and it consumes our lives. |

| Finch – Brother Bleed Brother (Album Version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"a mold of ugliness thrown into the fire" could be referring to our creation and how ugly we really are. "brother bleed brother" could say how we're constantly hurting each other. "what have you done, my son, with your desire?" could be saying that we're letting our own selfishness stand in the way of doing the right thing. "I'll hold my breath until the end. I'll pray for us to make it through I'll hold my breath." ever heard that saying 'don't hold your breath'? he could be using this as sarcasm saying that we're not going to change, we'll be our end. "love of conviction to cope with the weight of all your own mistakes" is referring to how we point out others flaws to make ourselves feel better. "and I die for you, I die" could be saying how he bends over backwards trying to show them the way, he's killing himself to help them "sifting seasons through the sand" obviously refers to time going on "spitting treason in your hand" to spit on someone is usually an insult, treason isn't too pleasant, so I think this is saying that treason is being used as an insult. |

| Finch – Ravenous Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
the first stanza seems to be referring to how religions force images of eternal death (Below the earth lies a serpent Fire and brimstone") onto to people to scare("remove the backbone") them into believing("wake up, you're baptized") the second stanza seems to be saying "this is all we are, flesh" I think the verse starting with "under the skin..." is saying "you're scared, is that why you believe in something higher." and it talks about how they believe that our flesh forms are nothing and they focus on something made up (religion) instead of what's right in front of us. when he says everything, I think he's referring to our undying will to not end. how man caves to the idea of immortality, in any form. |

| Black Light Burns – Cruel Melody (feat. Carina Round) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| When he says "'cause my past is a poison and I'll never find a cure" he could be referring to the fact that he can't forget or forgive what was in his past, and it's a part of him he can't get rid of, no matter how painful it may be. | |
| Chevelle – Mia Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think that Redline03GT is on to something, shells are hard on the outside, but they're hollow and with enough pressure they crack, while peanuts are consistent all of the way through. | |
| Chiodos – Baby, You Wouldn't Last A Minute On The Creek Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Chiodos is obviously more than the other mainstream bands today, the ones the media makes. For one thing they use classical piano sounds on their keyboard, not any common techno stuff. classical piano is one of my favorite instruments, so beautifly done. | |
| Chiodos – The Words 'Best Friend' Become Redefined Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I believe the song is referring to being best friends with someone and then transcending beyond that and becoming lovers. | |
